According to the book description of The Last Jump: A Novel of World War II, it “is a war story, a mystery, a love tale, and a tribute to the people who won World War II. Fact and fiction intermix seamlessly to unravel a secret passionately guarded by four aging soldiers. The reader is transported back in time to an imperfect America, with all is incredible virtues and vexing shortcomings, struggling with racial and gender issues while fighting for its very survival. It was a time when Americans stood shoulder to shoulder to free the world from tyranny. It celebrates the spirit and courage of ordinary citizens pitted against the militaristic regimes of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. It was a time when the sons of presidents and senators served, fought, suffered and died alongside average Americans and famous celebrities.
This particular segment will discuss the great German Ardennes Counter Offensive of mid-December 1944. The first 15 minutes will discuss the intriguing backdrop to the battle. This prelude will discuss, in detail, the savage mauling the German Army received during the summer of 1944. Then I will give a brief description of just how the Germans were able to regroup and rebuild with such astonishing speed. The next segement will discuss, in detail, the German planning for their audatious Ardennes Counter Ofensive. At this ponit, I will pose this question to the audience: Was it strategically sound and tactically wise for the Germans to mass all their available resources in the West for one last desperate assault, when they were facing such unrelenting pressure from the Soviets? This will lead to an amazing discussion and exchange of ideas betwwen myself, and every one of the audience members. My third segment will discuss the phenomenal battle itself, detailing the sheer ferocity of the German attack. I will then pose another question to the audience: Was there anything the Germans could have done differently during the course of this tremendous battle that could have altered the outcome? This will lead to an even more interesting exchange of opinions, to be sure. My final segment will discuss, in detail, the aftermath of this incredible campaign. This Maiden voyage of Tim's World War Two will be a great success! It will kick off many more to come. Please come and join all the fun!
Please join Frankie Picasso host of The Good Radio Network on Thursday, February 19th, 2015 at 1:00 pm est when she is joined by Julien Hanford, a Brithish Artist/Photographer from London, England whose ambitious project titled "THE FALL" is his offering to the World, to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the end of World War 2.
THE FALL is an art installation and event to commemorate the genocide of six million civilian human beings during the course of the second world war.
The installation consists of 6 million domino tiles. These are arranged, stood on end, in a gigantic block measuring approximately 7,500 square metres. For 6 days they stand, marking the 6 years of the second world war, between 1939 – 1945.
At noon on the 6th day, they will be toppled, row after row, by the hand of a Concentration Camp survivor.
Says Julian, "To this day, I struggle to visualise this vast figure – it’s an abstract number, diluted by the passage of time. Around us in the intervening 40 years, we have also witnessed the re-ignition of the same racism and intolerance in the world that our species should have consigned to the waste bin of history. This is true to the point that there is an active movement now for the denial of the holocaust.
We also feel priviledged to be able to give our listeners a first listen to Mad World by Aurelia which is due to be released by Amazon on 26th Feb!
Please join in this important conversation. We look forward to sharing this incredible story with you.

Of those islands only nine are inhabited and each offers unique accommodations. We’ll introduce you to three of our favorite properties today. Our first stop is Buccament Bay Resort on the island of St. Vincent. Buccament Bay is a brand new 5 star all-inclusive resort surrounded by lush green mountains, rainforests and a white sand beach. Resort Manager Christine Nelles will offer a virtual tour of the array of experiences that families, couples and business travelers can enjoy. From the Liverpool Football Club Soccer School and Pat Cash Tennis Academy to the Harlequin Performing Arts Academy, and world-class cuisine the resort offers something for everyone. Our next stop is the island of Bequia, the largest of the Grenadine Islands. Here we’ll introduce Bengt Mortsted, owner of the newly built Bequia Beach Hotel. This boutique hotel is inspired by stylish Mustique villas and situated on the beautiful Friendship Beach. Lush tropical gardens embrace the grounds and provide a luxurious and relaxing experience. The private island of Palm Island, in the Southern Grenadines, and the Palm Island Resort is our final stop on this tour. The resort is an eco-friendly, all-inclusive, 135-acre resort that is intimate with only 41 guestrooms and two villas.
