2015 Special Olympics World Games Theme Song Writers join us on REAL TALK SPORTS

    in Sports

This summer, Los Angeles will welcome 7,000 inspirational athletes from 177 different countries to the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games. Supporting children and adults with intellectual disabilities, the World Games is the world’s largest sports and humanitarian event.

To celebrate, The Coca-Cola Company, Founding Partner of Special Olympics, has assembled a star-studded team to record an anthem for the 2015 World Games, titled “Reach Up.” The new song will debut in early June, and will be performed during the Opening Ceremonies at the World Games on July 25.

“Reach Up” features Cody Simpson and Marc Roberge, lead singer for O.A.R., accompanied by Breanna Bogucki, a singer and decorated Special Olympics athlete from Illinois, and Madison Tevlin, a young woman with Down syndrome who found fame earlier this year with her cover of “All of Me.” The grouping was inspired by Special Olympics Unified Sports- a program that brings people with and without intellectual disabilities together on the same team to compete.

Fans can support Special Olympics by sharing the “Reach Up” music video on social media using the hashtag #ReachUp. Coca-Cola will donate one dollar to Special Olympics for every “Reach Up” video share using the hashtag leading up to the World Games.

Changing The World--Live With The Rayfords

    in Lifestyle

None of us can change the world by ourselves, but with a change in our attitudes, we can make a difference, one person at a time.

Of course, Believers who have an established relationship with Jesus Christ understand--the one person at a time concept--hopefully better than most--but if we concentrate on changing self first and reaching out to others to show them, not tell them, how a different attitude change their lives and the lives of others.

Showing kindness--even to people who may not deserve it is one way we can change attitudes. It's hard to stay mad at someone who is kind to you.

Showing compassion--when other people have situations to deal with, we can be more compassionate about them than being judgmental. We've all made mistakes--some more costly than others, but the great thing about mistakes is--if we learn from them--and we should--we become better people.

Loving others--even the unloveable--gets their notice every time. And when we finish showing them love, share the love of Jesus Christ, gettting them to understand just how important they are to Him.

We can do this--change the world--making a difference and a better place for all to live and thrive--one person at a time.

  • Where in the world?

    in Current Events

It's that time of year again. Ghosts and goblins, mystical creatures, and the ever popular zombies.
With Halloween just around the corner and the premiere of season six of Walking Dead, the Apocalypse Nana show once again tackles the zombie topic.

As if they can ever get old.

    Wait... it could

    But we won't let it.

This week, Rob and Jackie tak about  not only the zombie apocalypse, but the logistics of it. With the topic being not just zombies, but where in the world, which country, would survive a zombie apocalypse. Which country would  do the best to beat the zombie epidemic.

We will discuss demographics, geography, and why each of us think our choice of country would fare best in the zombie outbreak.

With us this week we have Kollective Kate bringing some statistical information on the where she best feels would do outstanding and the zombie apocalypse.

Also joining us back by popular demand, and we certainly missed her, is Ripley. The foremost authority on The Walking Dead topic. She will join us, talk about her country of choice and of course we'll talk about The Walking Dead.

It's the show you do not want to miss! Join us in live and in chat for a fun informative time

Still, however, Van Peebles does show us how a bloody stump may not be a meaningless thing if we get out of that cultist bag.  How does he do this? He shows the blood on Sweetback’s arms each time he down the cops.  In his first  baptism by blood there is blood all the way up to his elbow.  And later when he downs the cops in the poolroom, there is blood up to his elbow again,   That is the true route to liberation:  stern action when the situation demands that you seize the time and turn away from cultist behavior.

There is another key idea which comes through repeatedly.  That is the ability of the people to survive even under the hardest conditions.  We do this by using the means available to us and never worrying about the fact that we don’t have all the technology that the oppressor has. You will recall that Sweetback was interns and in the back of the police car when the people “washed “ it with gasoline.   What did the brother do? He made it out of the car and then walked right through the - he did not panic and run, he just calmly turned a situation of oppression to his advantage.
