Wow. According to one recent study, 96% of American employees experience bullying in the workplace, and the nature of that bullying is changing thanks to social media and online interactions.
Even though the employment world is already heavily regulated, one major gap remains: workplace bullying. No state prohibits bullying, unless it relates to a protected group (such as race, sex or disability).
But workplace bullying has harmful, reverberating effects, not only on the victims, but also on the witnesses. The good news is that we don’t need to wait for a law to be enacted to prevent and respond to bullying.
Progressive employers who want to be successful ensure their cultures are bully-free. This week’s guest will talk about how.

The reason is that I research and write about workplace interpersonal relationships that impact organizational outcomes (between management and staff, between peers, etc.).

What happens at work is not isolated to work process and goals. It is largely impacted by the internal relationship motives people have not addressed (which results in harassment, bullying abuse, illegal employment decisions, etc.). My job is to address that reality and provide consequence and clarity of the individual choices that team members decide to make.
What led to my identification as 'The Workplace Relationship Expert'?
1) I started dealing with workplace legal issues (wrongful termination, etc.) as an attorney at my law firm (which I opened in 1998).

Of course company culture and cultural fit have a huge impact on day-to-day happiness. Being able to identify when a culture is turning bad, and what we can do about it, are obviously critical skills for managing our career happiness.
Culture originates with leadership values and the core business mission, and then flows from the people inside an organization do with all of that, and eventually with what meaning is attached to all those continuously evolving behaviors.
When the accepted collective behaviors lead to conflict and strife, we’ve got a bad culture on our hands. Lots of things that can create a bad culture, but all of them can be summed up by three factors we’re going to discuss this week on the show.

Since January of 2014, I have gone on a personal and professional quest to research the importance of technology literacy in the workplace...and it truly amazes me how individuals today still take for granted the importance and necessity of technology literacy skills in the workplace.
