    The Author Chat Show with Lynda D. Brown

    in Books

    Meet author Jim Greene. Jim will be joining me tomorrow on the show to discuss his book series, Unlocking Spiritual Greatness.

    About the book:

    Just like there are specific physical exercises that are good for physical conditioning, there are specific spiritual exercises that are good, in fact, essential for our spiritual conditioning and growth. If you want to grow spiritually, you have to do spiritual exercises. (1Timothy 4:8)

    This book looks to Jesus for “duplicate-able” activities for the model for our growth. For years Christian writers have identified specific activities regularly evidenced in his earthly life and called them Spiritual or Christian Disciplines. I believe that if it was useful for Jesus to be disciplined in his worship and praise to God, then it is useful for us as well. Further, I believe that the inclusion of Christian Disciplines in our lives, or what I call the Disciplined Training Approach places us in obedient submission to God and that is where we are supposed to be.

    About the author:

     Jim Greene makes his home in Knoxville, TN in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. An avid backpacker, his countless hours in the outdoors have often blessed him with many topics to write about. As a layman Sunday School teacher, he challenges himself and his class to strive for and enjoy a closer relationship with God. Each of his books look to God as the ultimate authority in our lives. Jim feels God speaks to him personally through journaling and his books primarily came to answer a question in his life. They may just help you too.?

    The Best Teacher For You

    in Motivation

    Today's Inspiration Is A Double Header

    “The experienced mountain climber is not intimidated by a mountain – he is inspired by it.
    The persistent winner is not discouraged by a problem – he is challenged by it.
    Mountains are created to be conquered;
    adversities are designed to be defeated;
    problems are sent to be solved.
    It is better to master one mountain than a thousand foothills.”

    William Arthur Ward
    Author of Miracles I Have Seen

    “It’s one kind of victory to slay a beast, move a mountain, and cross a chasm,
    but it’s another kind altogether to realize that the beast, the mountain, and the chasm
    were of your own design.”

    Mike Dooley
    Author of Infinite Possibilities

    So Now What?

    Putting those two quotes together really made me stop and ponder the wonderfulness of the Universe, hopefully you too. So, is it possible you are your own best teacher?

    Sure, we can learn from and even thrive from our “mountains.” But what if we were the ones who set ourselves on the path to conquer those challenges...

Our patients often spend hours just sitting and watching the incredible beauty this location has to offer, not to mention the sunsets.

Located just 15 miles east of Fresno in Clovis, we offer a highly monitored, safe detox that includes: monitored withdrawal services, withdrawal protocols, assessment, psycho-educational groups, yoga and exercise programs, case management, individual and group psychotherapy. The Kerri Edelman Show presents Hard Rock/Nu-Metal Band Islander

    in Rock Music

    It has been quite a journey for ISLANDER, who, in just over a year, have gone from obscurity to a band in constant radio rotation. Fueled with a combination of emotionally capturing songs and audience grabbing live shows, ISLANDER continue to lead at the forefront of their peers. The thrilling trip for this quartet began in the foothills of Greenville, S.C. with the release of their Victory Records debut Pains in 2013. Now, a lethal combination of alt-rock, punk and nu-metal that recalls the finest of bands like Refused and Deftones, ISLANDER have released their full length Violence & Destruction to critical recognition. Comprised of members Mikey Carvajal on vocals, Andrew Murphy on guitar, drummer Eric Frazier and bassist Chris Doot, ISLANDER recorded the album with producer Cameron Webb (SILVERSTEIN, ALKALINE TRIO) at Hollywood's NRG Studios. It is twelve tracks of American rock anthems spawned by individual struggle and organic affection. The result is a refreshing and unpredictable performance of cutting edge, modern-day rock with classic punk overtones fused with groove laden beats. Violence & Destruction awakens the nerves and lets life in. From the blockbuster single 'Coconut Dracula', to the outlaw collaboration of 'Criminals' with P.O.D.'s Sonny Sandoval and the fist-pumping title track, ISLANDER sonically 'demonstrate that fragile dichotomy between softness and weight in a riff', as described by Noisey/Vice. Alternative Press confirmed that ISLANDER was one the '100 Bands You Need To Know' as 2014 continues to shine with festival confirmations at Aftershock in Sacramento and Louder Than Life in Louisville.
