Women’s entrepreneurship has hit a media tipping point. The question is: Is it just a passing media fad that will soon be a blip on the radar screen, or is it actually a real, fundamental economic force that’s reshaping the world? I think it’s safe to say that it’s the latter. Women-owned entities in the formal sector represent approximately 37% of enterprises globally — a market worthy of attention by businesses and policy makers alike.
While aggregated data is often challenging to find, the recent Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) found 126 million women starting or running businesses, and 98 million operating established (over three and a half years) businesses. That’s 224 million women impacting the global economy — and this survey counts only 67 of the 188 countries recognized by the World Bank.
We women are the weavers of the social fabric of life. Love is the bottom line of our lives. Relationship is of prime importance to us. Yet, in our tormented world we are cut off from this core value and suffer in our relationships with our mates, children, friends, and work colleagues. It is time to come together, drop our guard, reconnect in sacred sisterhood, acknowledge what we all share as common heritage as women and learn how to truly support ourselves and one another for our personal and planetary healing and transformation. By sharing our vulnerable truth and being witnessed by one another with compassion, empathy and care we can create the culture of love that is our birthright as women. Join Iris and Priya in intimate and open conversations about what we women face as we go through the unique portal after menopause into our sixties - the entrance into our wisdom years.
You’ve encountered them at one point or another—someone calls your home phone, offering a certain product or service. This form of sales, called direct marketing, is often considered annoying and invasive by consumers but when carefully planned and implemented, it can be a great source of income for anyone who wants to bring extra money to the family.
But where do you start? And more importantly, how do you ensure you have the right skills, tools, and ethics to take on the discerning taste of consumers?
Our guest in today’s Christian Women Entrepreneurs on Fire episode Chris York will share with us what we need to know before embarking on a direct marketing gig.
Chris is a Professional Network Marketer, Internet Marketer, and involved in Direct Sales of skin care and anti-aging products. She started in 1999 and is now working for a global company where she is building a large team of people from different parts of the world.
