WILMINGTON ON FIRE - A Chat w/ Christopher Everett

    in Culture

Wilmington on Fire is a documentary regarding a race riot - act of white terrorism - which destroyed the black community of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Occurring in 1898 - just after Reconstruction - the race riot destabilized the black community and essentially allowed the whites to maintain an iron grip.

Christopher Everett has directed the documentary - Wilmington on Fire - to chronicle the tragedy and its aftermath...an overlooked eyesore of American history.  The Wilmington tragedy is particularly stirring because the town was essentially a black mecca and was...conquered by white supremacists.

Everett's documentary features several activists, historians, and civic leaders...among them is internationally renowned Dr. Claude Anderson, the author of Powernomics.  Through his tireless research, Dr. Anderson has always maintained that white supremacy flourished to the economic detriment of Black Americans.

Wilmington on Fire is a major documentary and shouldn't be missed. The aftermath of the race riot has had a lasting impact in not just North Carolina, but the entire country.

Mike with his wife, Amber and four daughters

Before answering Gods call on Michael’s life, he was hopelessly addicted to life destroying drugs for nearly a decade.  After entering into a Christian Recovery Center, Michael encountered the powerful love of Jesus.  All of his chains of addiction were finally broken.   Following his completion of the program, God called Michael to school, where he met his wife Amber Thornton.  In May of 2007, both Amber and Michael graduated from Heritage Bible College and continued to further their education at Regent University.

During this time, God began to stir in Michael’s heart the flames of revival.  God quickly opened some amazing doors, and Michael was able to share his story amongst different denominations and races.  His testimony was even featured on the 700 Club.  Continuing to follow the call for a national and global spiritual awakening, the Lord led Michael to re-dig the ancient wells of revival in North Carolina. Fruit from this assignment has lead to his first book–Fire in the Carolinas: The Lasting Legacy of G.B. Cashwell and A.B. Crumpler. This work has also led to a great hunger and passion to see the Southern United States lead the nation in a global healing revival between the races and churches.

In May 2012, Michael received a Masters degree in Public Administration/Non-profit Organizations, and Amber received two Masters degrees: Practical Theology/Christian Counseling.  In addition, God has blessed the Thornton’s with four beautiful girls: Jordan, Abigail, Briella, and Bethany.

Daniel Bell, Earnest Lacy, Derek Williams, Dontre Hamilton, Frank Jude, again and again its the same story, A black man is killed or beaten by Milwaukee Police and nothing is done. Enough is enough and the time has come to put it all on the line. KB AND THE REVOLUTIONARY RYDERS throw their hands in the air and scream I CANT BREATH!!!!!!! From public sodomy to rape and assault the Milwaukee Police Department has been been the biggest gang in the city from day one. There has to be change in this country with the neverending, senseless, murder of Black men at the hands of Gestapo law enforcement officers. Governor Thot Walker has already told us he has the National Guard on speed dial just in case us negros act a fool. We know that there will be no indictment of the officer who murdered Dontre Hamilton. The question is WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT???? Why are Black officers so quiet on this issue? What changes should the people demand?? Why are we still killing ourselves??? Why did Sheriff Clarke loan Charles Barkley that dunb ass cowboy hat????
