  • Alzheimer's Caretaker, Dr. Nate Hare talks about journey wife Dr.Julia Hare

    in Family

The Gist of Freedom is asking you to join us as we support Dr. Nathan Hare and his wife as they struggle with Alzheimer's. http://www.gofundme.com/Let-Her-Be-Free

"Dr. Julia Hare has been living with Alzheimer’s for several years and was she was recently diagnosed with the End Stage of the condition. Her health providers refused to treat her on an outpatient basis without confinement ( if you are determined to leave and expressly “go home,” they label you a “wanderer” and lock the door.  When I would go to see her in her locked situation, at the end of the visiting hour I would have to conspire with the staff to distract her in order for me to ease out the door and slip away without her. On the other side of the slamming door, secured by the loud click of the prison-like lock, I would hear her realizing my exit and banging on the door and calling my namel.”

I took a physician and a lawyer as well as a retired judge and with me and went out and brought her home. Almost as soon as we got home she was getting better.

Although most of her medical costs are now being paid by her health insurance company, the cost of caregivers is staggering and relentless.

Four years ago when we were undeniably blindsided by this diabolical and incurable condition, several persons suggested that I let it be known and accept donations to help preserve the freedom and dignity of the proud and inimitable lady I promised, fifty-seven years ago, to protect and “To Love and to Cherish”.

I am now following their advice and posting this donation request. Although we are advised by the Good Book to share and share alike, keep in mind that it’s the little things that count and, as one of Aesop's fables reminds us, no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."

Next Level Radio welcomes Willam Hollis

    in Christianity

Join us Monday, August 3rd at 8pmcst/9pmest to hear the story of tragedy to triumph. William Hollis will be with us to tell his story and his dream. Dial in at 323 693 3830 or logon to blogtalkradio.com/niacomplatform. Next Level Radio with Teirrany and Spence.

    William Hollis
The story of William Hollis is more about persevering through life than it is about football. Hollis, who hopes to find his way into an NFL camp this summer, is the ultimate underdog. His story, and his determination, make him impossible not to root for.

    ? TWEET (235) ?SHARE (71)
William Hollis may never make it in the NFL. If he does, however, Hollis has led the kind of life that someone will turn into a movie.

Hollis, 23, is a 6-foot-1, 245-pound linebacker/defensive end who last played for Tuskegee University, which plays in the Division 2 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. He began his career at Clark Atlanta, also a member of the SIAC. To say Hollis' life has taken several detours along his road to trying to earn the attention of NFL teams is an understatement.

You don't so much interview Hollis as you simply turn on the recorder, ask him to tell his story and then just get out of the way and listen.

Hollis has played only one season of football since 2009, and that as a reserve who barely saw the field for Tuskegee in 2012. He claims the Tuskegee coaching staff there refused to play him because, though he walked on and earned a scholarship, they had not recruited him.
'I KNOW I COME FROM NUTHIN', BUT I'M NOT NUTHIN'
    - WILLIAM HOLLIS
Our interview started with me asking Hollis if, considering where he is coming from, making the NFL was realistic. From there, the William Hollis Experience began.

"I think it's very realistic. I had a workout with the Toronto Argonauts going against about four different NFL-caliber tackles that played one year, two years in the NFL
