Since early childhood, William David Spencer has been in love with books and, particularly with mysteries and adventure stories. Captivated as a small child by the ingenious tales of Joe Pooh, Teddy Bear Detective, spun out by his endlessly inventive older sister, the young boy was left bereft of sister and story at her untimely death when he was only six years old. Books, poems, music and lyrics were his solace and he has been deeply immersed in creating them ever since.
Born and reared in urban central New Jersey, his life was changed by two events; his encounter with Jesus through Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship after a thought-provoking hospitalization in the summer between his final year in high school and first year in college, due to cutting too much weight as co-captain of his high school wrestling team; and the impact of a riot in his birth city, Plainfield, N.J., during the racial upheavals in the late 1960s. The second event propelled him into a lifetime of urban ministry taking the healing message he’d learned from the first event to the streets of Plainfield, then to Newark, Philadelphia, back to Newark/New York/Jersey City, Trenton, Louisville, Kentucky, and today to Boston, where he trains ministers, as professor of theology and the arts, with Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary’s Center for Urban Ministerial Education. Along the way he played in a band during the Jesus Movement, performing at coffee houses and festivals, helped establish a school for store front pastors, planted a storefront church he continues to co-pastor, helped create an academic journal and a book line and has had many adventures himself in city ministry.

Tonight's special guest is Kristina Pinson from St Louis, Missouri, the National Secretary of the "Knights for the Innocent" non-profit, which seeks to aid all women and children, and to protect and defend the innocent from abuse. They work hand in hand with law enforcement but once they receive a call they send out a response team. The focus is primarily on Domestic Abuse, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse. They are also available to help and support with other issues but this is the main focus. Because of this activity, dealing with individuals and providing response teams can result in danger to everyone involved. The Knights will be taking an active role, and once they receive a call they'll send out a response team. The team must be of 2 or more individuals for safety. Background checks are done of all member / volunteers. The background check is required because the Knights are looking to make sure that individuals becoming members do not have any felonies for issues the group stands against. This includes, sexual assault, domestic abuse, etc. Group leader William Warren recently said, "We have a lot of good people in this group doing some great things. We're still growing but at a now slower rate, and that is good [because it] gives us a chance to catch up on some things." He goes on, "If we stay focused on why we are here, and what we want to do, we will make this work!"
Finally the Final Four is set with four great programs and legendary coaches: Duke vs. Michigan State and Kentucky vs. Wisconsin. We will look at how these teams won their Elite 8 games. We will then preview the Final Four matchups. Can Kentucky wrap up a magical season and go 40-0? Is there a chance of an all Big Ten title game? Also, who is the best coach: Coach K, Tom Izzo, John Calipai or Bo Ryan? Next we look at the NBA Playoff seeds and who can make it in the East. Who is your MVP Curry, Harden, James or Westbrook? Join us to talk sports at 6PM ET. Call in to the show: 718-664-9098. @RaeAndTayToday www.RaeAndTayToday.com

Recently the White House sent out an email asking, 'Do You Know Who Ada Lovelace is?' (Yes. Do you?) & there was buzz around the last press conference of the year focusing only on female journalists -- Eleanor Roosevelt did it first, but who's counting... ? Well, someone is, because everywhere you look, someone is trying to restore balance to our patriarchal society. Feminist.com founder Marianne Schnall asked the leading question in her book What Will It Take to Make a Woman President? and got great answers from scores of luminaries on women & leadership. Feminist icon Gloria Feldt has founded Take the Lead Women, based on her book No Excuses: 9 Ways Women Can Change How We Think about Power . But could Plato have the answer? Professor Anna Caney's new transcription of a previously unpublished work by Henry Howard gives a universe of historical reasons why women should rule. Hey, it worked for Queen Elizabeth I.
