Our guest tonight is best-selling author Terri Farley, who will be talking about her first non-fiction book, "Wild at Heart: Mustangs and the Young People Fighting to Save Them." Mustangs have thrived for thousands of generations. Now they are under attack, but courageous young people are trying to stop the round-ups and senseless killings by standing up to government and big business to save these American icons. Learn about cutting edge science and the young people leading the charge to keep horses wild and free.
"Anyone who cares about wild horses should read this book. So should anyone who cares about how science is being abused to justify flawed management policies masquerading as 'responsible conservation'." - Dr. Ross MacPhee, Curator of Mammalogy/Vertebrate Zoology, American Museum of Natural History
Hosted By Debbie Coffey, V.P. Wild Horse Freedom Federation
Our guest tonight is Victoria Racimo, director of One Day, a film chronicling the life of racing champion Our Mims and the Thoroughbred retirement sanctuary that bears her name; The film is an Official Selection in the upcoming Equus Film Festival in NYC, November 20 - 22. This film was previewed at the American Equine Summit at the Equine Advocates sanctuary, and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Produced by Palomino Entertainment Group, TanNa Young, Editor and Executive Producer, One Day wove the career and subsequent life of 1977 Champion 3-Year-Old Filly Our Mims with that of Our Mims Thoroughbred Retirement Haven founder Jeanne Mirabito. Maribito fell in love with the race filly after watching her racing on television, and made a “cosmic claim” on the filly, vowing that one day she would own her.
Twenty-one years later, in the back field of a cattle farm that Mirabito was working on, the two were brought together and formed a bond that eventually saw Mirabito owning the mare and starting a retirement sanctuary for broodmares and the occasional gelding in Paris, Kentucky.

Our guest tonight is Sinikka Crosland, Exec. Dir. of Canadian Horse Defence Coalition, people and national groups that have joined together to ban the slaughter of equines for human consumption in Canada, as well as the export of live horses to other countries for the same purpose.
Sinikka will talk about horse slaughter in Canada, and the, 7,000 horses transported live by air from Canada to Japan each year for slaughter. 3 or 4 large horses are crammed in wooden crates with little room to move around, let alone lie down to rest. No food or water is provided during the grueling journey to another continent. Canadian legislation permits horses to be transported without food and water for up to 36 hours, but sometimes, due to flight delays, the 36-hour period is breached.
The carrier responsible for shipping these horses to their deaths is Atlas Air, Inc., based in Purchase, New York.
If you were not at Wild Horse Pass for WFFMMA's last fight card of the year this past Saturday night holy smokes did you miss out!!! A 12 second Knockout from the Champ Kyle Stewart, a 15 second Knockout from Stewart's AZ Combat teammate Manny Villareal, a handful of submission finishes, referee stoppages with only 2 going to decision both of which being split. Man oh Man does WFFMMA matchmaker and owner Thom Ortiz know how to put together a freaking fight card!!! There were some very impressive finishes and all of the fighters, fans, coaches and families all should be very proud. Without you the fans none of this is possible, and all of us here at WFFMMA are all proud to provide you an arena to witness the growth of AZ MMA. Tune in as we will have radio shows through the end of the year as we look ahead to our first fight card of 2016 back at the Wild Horse Pass Casino on January 30th. From the entire staff at WFFMMA thank you so much for all of the support throughout 2015, we have had a tremendous year. Have a safe and happy holiday season.
