    # 109 Spencer Livingston

    in Entertainment

    GROW, Spencer Livingston’s debut solo release (produced by Peter Malick), takes an easy-going yet thought-provoking alt-rock, folk-Americana romp through the backwoods of L.A.
    Los Angeles native Spencer Livingston grew up on a steady diet of rock Americana. His early love of Neil Young and Tom Petty was reinforced by a strong dose of Wilco. The son of actor Barry Livingston, who played Ernie Douglas on the 1960’s sitcom My Three Sons, Spencer is a natural performer. And though he was born and raised on the hem of Hollywood, Livingston has been nourished by a down-to-earth, artistic community supportive of his naturally rootsy inclination. Says Livingston, “I definitely come from a very musical family who exposed me to a really wide variety of music with everything from The Beatles to Woody Guthrie. As far as the way I write, I do most of my writing by just observing things as I go through life. Sometimes I just have an idea that pops into my head when I am going through my day and I write it down. It is as simple as that.” Spencer’s sensitive lyrics and disarmingly familiar voice seem to pine for a simpler space and time right now.
    At the still-tender age of 21, Spencer has already been playing guitar, writing and recording for over 9 years.
    Spencer’s solo debut, GROW, features Milk Carton Kids’ Ken Pattengale playing steel guitar and mandolin on the neo-protest song, Have A Little Faith.

    Nashville Indie Pop Princess Holly Maher

    in Entertainment

    Holley Maher is an artist. In her Nashville home, she surrounds herself with paintbrushes, self-authored and illustrated storybooks and novels, odd collections of instruments, and stacks of notebooks full of sketches, ideas, and songs in the making. Her vivid artistic vision bleeds into the studio and her songs, manifesting in beautifully textured vocal harmonies and sweeping melodies that seem to pull you in and carry you away.
    For her third EP project entitled “Euphorics,” Holley teamed up with veteran Nashville-based producer Chris Grainger (Kopecky Family Band, Wilco, Sixpence None The Richer, Five Knives, Cold Stares, Switchfoot) and electro-pop singer/songwriter Kyle Andrews. The collaboration was a “creative rush,” as Maher calls it, resulting in a collection of upbeat songs with Holley’s familiar whimsical flair, but with a pulsating electro-pop undercurrent that makes not dancing nearly impossible;
    Please join us as we chat with her and talk about anything and everything Nashville!
