Who Did It To You? Roundtable Discussion with Dr James Jones

    in Current Events

Nobody will ever change the condition of a people until they change within themselves. Family the burden is on us to change our behavior; to build love, trust and confidence in each other and in our people for us, then, 95% of our problems will be solved. We, as leaders must declare that we will never sell out the aspirations of our people for personal wealth, position and advancement in the society of our former slave masters and their children. We must make a covenant with our people to work and sacrifice and be willing to be the good shepherd (leaders) who will lay down our lives for our people. Let us accept our responsibility and change our behavior to that, which will make us more than comrades and brothers and Sisters, but a behavior that will make us friends and companions in the struggle for the total freedom of our people here and wherever we are found on this earth.

Our word must be our bond. When we break our word we destroy the life of this covenant or the agreement that we have made. It is absolutely necessary that as leaders we must build trust among ourselves. We can only build trust when we strive to keep our word, particularly a solemn agreement or covenant that we make with each other and with our people. I PLEDGE that from this day forward I will keep this covenant. I pledge that I will work to accomplish our mission to make our vision a reality so help me God.

"Hold fast by this covenant of ours, all together and be not disunited. And remember God's favour to us when we were alone, then He united our hearts, so by His favour we became brothers and sisters."

"The real Revolutionaries are brothers and sisters, so make peace between your family . . . Do not find fault with your own people, nor call one another by (bad) names.

Today we will be speaking with Rev Wright. About Justice for his son Victor Wright! Our Brother was shot in the chest while handcuffed and the damn police said he shot himself while handcuffed!

On March 2, 2014 in New Iberia, La, Local police responded to a call of an alleged fight. Upon arrival, Mr. White was apprehened and arrested. Police are now claiming that during the time of arrest Mr. White was searched and illegal narcotics were found on his person. Upon arrival to the jail, authorities claim a struggle insued between Mr.White and the officer's to where a single gunshot was fired striking and killing Victor White. After a 6 month investigation and wait, an official report from the coroner's office August 25th, 2014 was released that claimed "suicide" of Mr. Victor White. I and some in the community are outraged and have called for the #JusticeofVictorWhite and the proper disciplining of our local police who abuse the power of their badges! Speaking on behalf of my community.

The challenge facing all of us is to rise above the things that have kept us divided in the past, by focusing us on the agenda of creating a better future for our people to see how all of us, with all of our varied differences, can come together and direct our energy, not at each other, but at the condition of the reality of the suffering of our people, that we might use all of our skills, gifts and talents to create a better world for ourselves, our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. It is time for us to stop thinking and acting solely on behalf of our churches, mosques, temples, synagogues and organizations. It is time for us as leaders to come together and begin to think, plan, and act on behalf of the whole of our people. We must put an end to the Mischief and the Mischief Maker!

The issue of Separation or integration

    If integration was a bird
    Then we wouldn't have wings
    If integration was a choir
Black and White could never sing
Cause integration isn't for me and you

    If integration was an Oscar
Black and White could never win
Cause we can never act out our parts
    If integration is the Bible
Then we are lost in sin
Because its not in our hearts

So why don't y'all go your way
    And we will go ours
Live y'all’s life, and we will live ours
you'll do well, and we'll be fine
    Cause we're better off, separated

    If integration was a fire
Then we have lost the spark
    If integration was a light
Then we're lost in the dark
    If integration was a sport
We're not on the same team
Black and White are destined to lose
    If integration was an ocean
Then we are just a stream
Cause integration isn't for Black and White

    So why don't y'all go y'alls way
    And we'll go ours
Live y'all’s life, and we’ll live ours
you'll do well, and we'll be fine
    Cause we're better off, separated

I know we had some good times
It's sad but now we gotta say goodbye
I can't say we didn't try to make it work for Black and White
I know it hurts so much but it's best for us
Somewhere along this windy road we lost the trust
So I'll walk away so you don't have to see me cry
Whites are killing us so, why don't y’all go

So why don't y'all go your way
    And we'll go ours
Live y'alls life, and we’ll live ours
you'll do well, and we'll be fine
Cause we're better off, so much better off, separated
    Truth has come to you~

Each of us has a gift from the Creator that we must offer to the struggle of our people for freedom. The Principle that states “He who would be your leader must be your servant.” Those of us who, for one reason or another, are accepted as leaders must increase our ability to serve. For it is only in serving that which is bigger than we are that we live and never die. That which is bigger than all of us is the Freedom, of our people in America, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Africa and the Isles of the Pacific.

Wherever Black people are on this planet we suffer, our goal should be to see our wounds healed, the damage repaired and all Black people free to bring again to the world what we originally brought, which was the light of knowledge and advanced civilization
