The Event Jeannie’s summer “Wet Your Whistle” Series continues with Whites in the United States
We realized that a discussion of white wines in the US needed its own show when our research produced 22 wine producing States in America – not the Americas, but 22 American States. California, New York, Oregon and Washington – what about Texas and Arizona – and yes, even Charles’ home state of Minnesota produces wine. Which is why we asked Charles Curtis, Master of Wine and founder of AlphaWine to return to our Wet Your Whistle Series to walk us through what having 22 American wine producing states really means to our palettes. Are the big three even worth our white wine drinking time? Price, value, taste, growing and production – what’s out there and what’s “out” there that we should aim to avoid. Best bets, trends and the perfect regional gift if you want to be generous and smart about your local wines. And of course, we will tell you where you should really go when you visit Napa.
Tune in at noon as usual, July 16th, to get the full scoop on white wines in the United States with Jeannie Uyanik and special guest Charles Curtis.
The Event Jeannie’s summer “Wet Your Whistle” Series continues with New World Whites
After a holiday hiatus, during which we spent time tasting the old world whites about which we spoke in our last Wet Your Whistle episode, we continue on Wednesday July 9th at noon with a look at white wines in the new world. We still owe Rieslings their due, which our expert Charles Curtis, revered Master of Wine and in our minds, master of anything liquid, will start discussing before we travel to modern day white wine making. A big fan of Rieslings, Charles will convince why they are so loveable after which we will look at new versus old comparatively, assessing value, taste, creation and of course, the differing soil, weather and growths. But perhaps most useful, we will try and persuade Charles to tell us just what to buy if we want a “wow” new world white!
Join us live at noon on July 9th as we continue our Wet Your Whistle series, created to better educate our listening drinkers.
The Event Jeannie’s summer “Wet Your Whistle” Series continues with Old World Whites
Charles Curtis, revered advisor on wines to companies, investors and restaurants and Principal of WineAlpha, a fine wine advisory firm, returns on June 18th to our Summer “Wet Your Whistle” Series to toast old world white wines. We will talk about how old whites differ from new and what’s been a surprise in the markets over the past few years.
If you drink wine, you should unquestionably listen to this show. If you don’t, you should listen to the show anyway, it will drive you to drink. Don’t miss another episode of the Event Jeannie, Wednesday at Noon.

His collection of vinous essays, now featured in The Wall Street Journal, have been praised by restaurateurs (“Filled with small courses and surprising and exotic flavors, educational and delicious at the same time” —Mario Batali), by esteemed critics (“Brilliant, witty, comical, and often shamelessly candid and provocative” —Robert M. Parker Jr.), and by the media (“His wine judgments are sound, his anecdotes witty, and his literary references impeccable” —The New York Times).

Join Witches On Wine this Friday at 8PM. Not sure what we'll talk about this time. Show was good this past Friday, you should check out the archives and listen to them. I realized yesterday that I have to stay seated close to the microphone or it's hard to hear me. However, when I start drinking and swearing I lose the ability to remember that little tidd-bitt. So, make sure you call in and tell me you can't hear me!!
And...did you know, there is a chat room!! You don't even have to call, you can just log in and listen and send questions to me. And isn't that what it's all about asking questions of a very open, no filter type 50 something witch?
"Blueshirts" Point of view (Pt II) Black and White. Often times things that are in Black and White...aren't necessarily Black and White. I am bringing back Mica and Heather to continue discussing their point of view!
Apparently, smoking pot is a far worse offense than beating a woman; at least the NFL thinks so. Mickey White joins us this evening to discuss the double standards and messed up priorities in the NFL surrounding the Ray Rice suspension. Also...what in the HECK was Stephen A Smith thinking??? We'll talk about that as well.
Also tonight, we're calling into GI Jenn's show for a few minutes at the start of our show. With the jury verdict today granting $1.8 to Jesse Ventura against Chris Kyle's widow, who better to get an opinion from than The Warrior Talk warrior herself...GI Jenn!!
