  • Near Death Experiences

    in Spirituality

A near-death experience, or NDE, is a profound event that may occur to a person close to death or who is not near death but in a situation of physical or emotional crisis. Being in a life-threatening situation does not, by itself, constitute a near-death experience. It is the pattern of perceptions, creating a recognizable overall event, that has been called “near-death experience.” Across thousands of years and in cultures around the world, people have described powerful experiences that follow this general pattern with its common features. At its broadest, the experiences involve perceptions of movement through space, of light and darkness, a landscape, presences, intense emotion, and a conviction of having a new understanding of the nature of the universe.  An NDE typically includes a sense of moving, often at great speed and usually through a dark space, into a fantastic landscape and encountering beings that may be perceived as sacred figures, deceased family members or friends, or unknown entities. A pinpoint of indescribable light may grow to surround the person in brilliant but not painful radiance; unlike physical light, it is not merely visual but is sensed as being an all-loving presence that many people define as the Supreme Being of their religious faith.

    in Fitness

WHAT IS BINDING YOU!  Declare your independence from that which binds you!

Computers compute with lives, imagine setting up a brand new computer.  It's a gem, it works perfectly, responds seamlessly to demands, runs programs without a hitch but no one told you computers need regular maintenance.  You keep adding more and more software, run multiple programs at the same time.  For a while it works flawlessly, and then the system reflects a lack of care and this magnificent tool is operating at only a fraction of its capacity.

Lack of brain maintenance results in...etc.

    An accumulation of data eventually...etc.

    Think how you feel after...etc.

How  do you feel when you've been...etc.

    Competition In The Church

    in Christianity

Have you ever sat in church or at a church event and saw people trying to OUT-DO each other? What about preachers trying to OUT-PPREACH one another. What about people trying to OUT-MINISTER to someone? Have we gotten so bold that we OUT-PRAISE, OUT-SHOUT and OUT-DANCE one another? Or worse, having to OUT-GIVE, seeing who can OUT-TITHE who? Why do we do this? Why do we have an attitude of ungratefulness in the church? Why are being ungrateful to God? We have a sense of "smelling ourselves" because we think we have it all together and know everything. God is not pleased with this attitude and He will deal with us accordingly. I don't know about the rest of yall, but I am sick of "one-up" people!

The Burden of My Red Lips in Tehran, w/ Iranian-American Shaghayegh Farsijani

    in Culture

"The Burden of My Red Lips in Tehran,” by Iranian-American author Shaghayegh Farsijani

Shaghayegh Farsijani is a former reporter and anchor, turned author and poet. She has traveled extensively throughout the world and has finally returned to her hometown of New York City. After publishing her collection of sensual poetry, she decided to share her story as a young woman during some of the most heated years in Iran's modern history.

Shaghayegh states, "When I returned to Iran with my parents in my late teens, I embarked on an exciting and life-altering journey. This story is based on my true life experiences of moving to a culture rich in history but torn by religious controversy. I was firmly grounded in the Western culture of my formative years, which began in Brooklyn, NY. I plunged through transformational challenges in Iran and guarded my Western identity. This novel is my story of how an adolescent girl—equipped only with fearlessness and without true life skills—sets goals and begins a journey with insurmountable odds."
