With medical marijuana approved in more states each year and recreational use legalized in Colorado and Washington, experts are concerned that more teens may use the drug because they believe it's safe.
A Feb. 25 study published in the International Journal of Drug Policy found that about 10 percent of high school students who would otherwise be at a low risk for picking up a pot-smoking habit -- which includes those who don't smoke cigarettes, students with strong religious beliefs and those with non-marijuana smoking friends -- say they would use marijuana if it was legal.
For high school seniors alone, the shift would make up a 5.6 percent absolute increase in lifetime pot use prevalence. About 45.6 percent of high school seniors admitted to smoking pot in the study, meaning that legalization would increase that number to 51.2 percent.
The data was pulled from the Monitoring the Future survey, which was a nationally-representative survey of students in the eighth, 10th and 12th grade. The students were polled from 2007 to 2011, before recreational marijuana use was legalized in Colorado and Washington following the November 2012 elections.

President Obama Nigger in the White House Controversial Headline
A liberal newspaper in New York City was trying to be edgy when it published a rambling nonsense piece about how everyone who disagrees with any of the policies of Obama is a hardcore racist and titled it “The Nigger in the White House.”
Unsurprisingly, even though the headline was designed to mock those who are viewed by the liberals as evil racists, the paper was accused of engaging in evil racism, because this is a trigger word.
A New York newspaper published an op-ed today in which President Obama is called the n-word right in the headline. But here’s the twist: it’s actually a pro-Obama op-ed, and James Collier, the author, makes the case in his piece that Republican hatred of the president is due to his race.
And in case you’re wondering why WestView News ran with the column, the publisher added a little note explaining that they were initially opposed to letting him go with that headline, they eventually agreed, because “Jim reminded me that the New York Times avoids using the word which convinced me that WestView should.” In the op-ed, Collier argues that “far right voters hate Obama because he is black,” and he argues that to many Americans, the president is, “if not exactly an enemy, at least an outsider.”
What were your thoughts when you first saw this headline? Could the same message been deliver and handled differently? Were you offended?

Wendy Jordan, Senior analyst for Taxpayers for Common Sense, talks “turkey” about the F-35 in her new report, “The Unaffordable F-35.” The report comes completely from unclassified, open sources. Jordan emphasizes that the report examines the F-35 project from the perspective of taxpayers. The report doesn’t get into the capabilities or technology of the project, but rather if it is a logical expenditure from a taxpayer’s perspective.
Dr. Wendy discusses the issue of job dissatisfaction, how to assess your current situation and take it to the next level.
