Domestic Violence in the NFL (Rice Reinstated) - What Message Did That Deliver?

    in Education

Domestic Violence in the NFL (Rice Reinstated) - What Kind Message Did That Decision Deliver?

The NFL was forced to reinstate running back Ray Rice by Judge Barbara Jones, making him eligible to return to the field after missing 11 games during the 2014 season, per multiple sources. The NFL has agreed not to pursue any further punishment for Rice. After the conclusion of an appeal hearing that featured testimony from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, the league lifted its indefinite suspension, which it levied on Sept. 8, an increase of Rice's original two-game suspension.

Domestic violence: The Bureau of Justic Statistics (BJS) summary data bunches domestic crimes with their respective counterparts. Because the vast majority of these are assault cases the assault data was broken into domestic and nondomestic, based on another BJS report which states that approximately 21 percent of violent crimes are domestic. (How exactly that translates into arrests is very tricky; the tentative number closer to 15 percent, but to be conservative, 21 percent baseline for purposes of this analysis). The study did not say that all of the players arrested were guilty, and only a small number are ever prosecuted or disciplined (which is also true to varying degrees for the general public).

Let's discuss this case and what kind of impression the final decision gave other women that are being abused.

Thank you for your continued support.

Eric Garner NO Indictment AGAIN! - Do Black Lives Matter? What is GOING ON?

    in Education

The Eric Garner Decision - NO Indictment AGAIN!

    I can’t breathe.

Those were Eric Garner’s last words, and they now apply to me. The decision by a Staten Island grand jury to not indict the police officer who killed him takes my breath away. In the depressing reality series that should be called “No Country for Black Men,” this sick plot twist was shocking beyond belief. There should have been an indictment in the Ferguson case, in my view, but at least the events that led to Michael Brown’s killing were in dispute. Garner’s homicide wascaptured on video. We saw him being choked, heard him plead of his distress, watched as no attempt was made to revive him and his life slipped away.

Source: Eugene Robinson - Washington Post

Dr. Wendy's Comment: I do not have much to say as I was shocked about this decision.  For me, the video tape was crystal clear.  The nation saw a man bought to his knees and killed. What more can be said outside of: I CAN'T BREATHE. I am concerned about the judicial system as I now question who the system is set up to protect?  Has law enforcement received a pass card to kill our Black men? Does due process truly exist? Black lives do matter. Over the past several months Black male killings have been on the rise (from ages 12 and up).  Will body cameras circumvent some of these occurrences?  America, we have a serious race issue and it must be addressed. I'll stop there...

The Ferguson Case - YOUR Thoughts & The Aftermath

    in Education

    SPECIAL EDITION!

The Ferguson Case - The Aftermath

NO Indictment! This decision was disappointing, but NOT shocking. It again shows that there are flaws in the judicial system. The nation has (AGAIN) seen another Black male killed by law enforcement and NOTHING was done. What is happening? Justice did NOT prevail - clearly.

Have the cops been given a pass card to shoot our Black boys & men at will? How are we going to protect them? Ferguson is very frustrated (rightfully so) and we've all seen that in the media.  As we continue to mourn the death of another Black youth, we are also dealing with the destructive behavior of the Ferguson community. The looting and violence is NOW out of control and several people have been arrested.  Protesting was expected, however violent protesting is never a good thing nor is it effective.  Doing this merely gives the police an opportunity to KILL. Yes, we empathize, however what is violent protesting going to resolve?

Ladies and gentleman - Let's talk about this decision and where do we go from here.

Thank you for your continued support.

The Ferguson Case - Will Justice Prevail?

    in Education

The Ferguson Case - Will Justice Prevail?
People are getting antsy. Supporters of Brown's family want to see Wilson go to trial. The officer's supporters want him to be vindicated. Business owners worry about their property. Officials are concerned about keeping the peace.
The signs pointed to the grand jury drawing near a decision as to whether Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson will be charged with a crime for fatally shooting Michael Brown.
    What do you think?
Was this excessive force? Was this self-defense? Are cops properly trained to handle these kind of cases? orAre have they become trigger happy? Why are these kind of cases becoming so "common"? As a parent, what are you telling your son? Do you think the city already knows the verdict? How will the nation respond, if the cop is not considered guilty? Should young Black men around the country be "MORE" concerned? Will justice prevail?
    Let's Talk about this case!
Thank you for your continued support.

Close-Up Talk Radio spotlights Wendy MacKay Coaching

    in Self Help

Okanagan Falls, British Columbia – The Law of Attraction states that what you focus on you will attract, but you can’t just put a smile on your face and expect to become happy. There is an inner process that must first take place, a connection between your inner intuition and the decisions you make.

Wendy MacKay is the founder of Wendy MacKay Coaching, dedicated to igniting the inner SPARK in the souls of women 50 and older to live happier and healthier.

“My perfect clients are everyday women who are at a stage in life where it’s time to be selfish and take time for themselves,” says Wendy. “If you have lived life serving the needs of others it’s your turn. You matter and it’s time to bring your SPARK back to life!”

According to Wendy, your SPARK is the emotional, spiritual, physical and mental feeling of being happy. Spark stands for “Soul awareness,” “Passion with purpose,” “Appreciation,” “Reciprocity,” and “Knowledge.” While each person’s SPARK is unique to them, it always begins with an awareness of our inner intuition, a sense of purpose, an appreciation for our lives, a willingness to share and a desire to learn. In short, SPARK is the recipe for happiness.

“Soul awareness is our inner intuition. It is important to learn to trust that intuition,” says Wendy. “Ask yourself, ‘Where is there resistance that needs to shift so I can begin to ignite my SPARK?”
