One of my facebook friends posted a photo of a watch she purchased as a Christmas gift for her Dad. It was a beautiful timepiece and the packaging was just as classy. Not only did she post the photo, she gave a little narrative about the watch. You see my friend was purposefully purchasing from black owned businesses that year. She was practicing Ujamaa, one of the 7 principles of Kwanzaa. Ujamaa is all about cooperative economics. The art of building and maintaining our own stores, shops, and other businesses and to profit from them.
So, it turns out that the Founder and President of this awesome watch company is a young black man. I was geeked to say the least. I started researching this Dude online. His name is Randy Williams and he lives in Viginia. And, the story behind the inception of his company is just as rich as the brand he has built and continues to cultivate.
Randy, successfully funded his first large manufacturing run through a program called kickstarter. When you get a chance, check out is website www.TalleyandTwine.com and check out the video in his successful kickstarter campaign that raised over $29,000 Talley&Twine Kickstarter campaign .

Down the Rabbit Hole
What is really happening to our state, to our country and to our world? Will there be an economic collapse? Will our educational system continue to dumb down our children? Will America become George Orwell’s “1984?”
Are you ready to look behind the curtain, to know the truth, to pierce the veil? Then prepare to go “Down the Rabbit Hole”. Politics, Economics, Religion, Culture and History will be just some of the topics to be explored as we peel back the layers to find the answers to all we seek.

Dear Yash Radio:
My husband just told me that he is “Addicted” to sports. Not playing them, but watching them. Football in its season. Baseball in its season. Basketball… He said tonight that he is happy when his team wins, sad when they loose, and depressed when they blow it. He is guilty whenever he is watching it because, I don’t like to watch sports on TV.
He listens to sports in the radio in the car. Thinks about it all day at work. Probably dreams it at night. Watches at least 15 hours of it a week. Why do baseball games have to be so long?!!
Sports is affecting our relationship. He doesn’t just play with our 2 1/2 year old son. He has one eye and ear glued to the game on TV. When we finally get out of the house on the weekends, he rushes us to get home before the start of a game. No more hiking. No more walks on the beach which is only three blocks from our house! No more exercising together. He even bought a second TV so that he wouldn’t feel too guilty, since our son and I could sit in another room watching a different show…
Is this addiction? Am I assisting in some co-dependent way? Should I take off with or without our son to do the fun outdoors things that we used to do (only alone this time)? When I do go out, with my family or a friend, he gets really depressed.
He probably grew up like this, and just hid it long enough for him to catch me. We are gaining weight on that couch. Our son is getting older. And we don’t have the family memories to keep me happy.
Plus. He promised me over 3 years ago he would quit smoking. I know it must be hard, but he smokes at work. I don’t let him smoke at home, but if he goes to the store (for beer to drink with the game…) he smokes. I’m a high school teacher. He works on a computer all day. We can’t afford his beer and cigarettes.
What can we do?
John recently wrote, Switzerland, as everyone knows by now, has slipped out the back door of the drunken orgy that is the modern financial system. And the other revelers are wondering if it’s time to find their own clothes and start tiptoeing towards the exit.
Because the Swiss have such a big “mind share” in the world of finance, it’s easy to forget how tiny their country actually is: Eight million people, a landmass of 40,000 square kilometers (less than half that of Virginia, for instance), and a few interesting but by no means essential exports like watches, chocolate, and pharmaceuticals. But in banking it’s a behemoth. Traditionally the place where money ran to hide, whether gold stolen by Nazis, tax revenues stolen by kleptocrats or personal wealth stashed by reasonable individuals living in unreasonable countries, it has for centuries been as reassuringly — and purposefully — boring as an aging accountant.
In other words, the Swiss are purveyors of financial stability, which requires a rock-solid currency and predictable behavior. The franc, as a result, has for long stretches been the only fiat currency to hold its value versus gold.

Today I have a special guest. He is Charles Chamberlain. Who is Charles Chamberlain?
Charles Chamberlain, is Executive Director of Democracy for America. He joined Democracy for America in 2006 as Political Director, where he led campaigns for the public option and against telecom immunity for spying on Americans as well as endorsements of controversial primary candidates against Sen. Joe Lieberman, Sen. Blanche Lincoln, and Rep. Al Wynn. He also directed DFA’s successful campaigns to stop the Republican War on the Working Families in Wisconsin and Ohio. In January of 2012, Charles became the Executive Director of Progressive Congress, the foundation for the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Charles rejoined DFA as Executive Director in August of 2013 and leads the strategic direction of the DFA team.
Before DFA, Charles spent over a decade grassroots organizing and directing statewide campaigns in 17 states for direct democracy initiatives and referendums working with the AFL-CIO, SEIU, Americans for Medical Rights, and others in fights ranging from funding early childhood development and protecting civil liberties to defending collective bargaining rights and raising the minimum wage. He’s also served on staff for Assemblymember Scott Wildman in California’s 43rd as the community organizer responsible for revitalizing in-district resident associations, neighborhood watches, and PTA’s.
Outside of the office, Charles likes to play disc golf, drink micro-brews, and eat Vermont cheese at the Farmhouse as well as watch too much T.V. with his wife, Alejandra. You can follow Charles on Twitter @IamCChamberlain.
Today we will discuss Elizabeth Warren.
