The Son of the Black Sword Episode

    in Hobbies

Dungeon Crawlers Radio is excited to welcome back to the show author, Larry Correia!

Larry Correia is an American fantasy novelist, known for his first book Monster Hunter International, despite it being self-published, reached the Entertainment Weekly bestseller list in April 2008, after which he received a publishing contract with Baen Books. Monster Hunter International was re-released in 2009 and was on the Locus bestseller list in November 2009. The sequel, Monster Hunter Vendetta, was a New York Times bestseller. The third book in the series, Monster Hunter Alpha, was released in July 2011 and was also a New York Times bestseller. Correia was a finalist for the John W. Campbell award for best new science fiction/fantasy writer of 2011. Warbound, the third book in Correia's The Grimnoir Chronicles series, received a nomination for the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2014.

The Dead Six series started as an online action fiction collaboration with Mike Kupari (Nightcrawler) at the online gun forum "The High Road" as the "Welcome Back Mr Nightcrawler" series of posts. These works predated the publishing of Monster Hunter International through Baen.

Correia's works use strong magical themes and often include mythical monsters, such as vampires and werewolves. His stories are typically action-oriented and are noted for the detailed accuracy of firearms usage.

    in Women

    Marcela:

Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, Marcela Ortiz always found herself in the midst of entertainment and the arts. Although her first love is writing, she became heavily involved in dance, performing in many modern, ballet, African and Hip Hop pieces and has participated in many seasonal concerts throughout her High School years. She participated in the New York City Ballet Workout High School Program in 2004 and 2005. She has also attended the College Now program for dance at Hunter College in her final year of High School. Although Marcela has an ongoing passion for dance, she did not hesitate to play the role of Mya in the You Tube web series "New York Girls TV." Celebrity Juice Features Kristen Ellis-Henderson of Antigone Rising

    in Entertainment

The massive success of “Whiskey & Wine Vol. 1” kept the band on the road for the most part of 2014. The first single “That Was The Whiskey”, co-written with Nashville songwriter Lori McKenna (Faith Hill, Little Big Town, Hunter Hayes), premiered on CMT trending in the Top 10 and was nominated in the "Country Song" category at The 13th Annual Independent Music Awards. When the New York based, alt-country female rockers do something, they do it big. Catapulted into the national spotlight in 2005 with a groundbreaking major label debut that landed them in the top 20 of the Billboard Heatseekers chart for an entire year.

Best known for relentless touring and masterful musicianship, the band played upwards of 280 shows a year in their early days. Founding sisters Cathy and Kristen Henderson have always had the same philosophy. Play better than the boys and make sure the fans feel like part of the family.  Catchy songs, has allowed this self-sustained group to maintain her independence and leave an indelible mark on an industry best known for leaving girl (bands) behind.

In a business riddled with pitfalls, the fans have been the one thing Antigone Rising count on. Their first independent fan-funded CD (2000's "Rock Album") raised ten thousand dollars via checks through snail mail before the internet ever kicked into high gear. Their fan funded effort for "23 Red" raised quadruple that number, with fan perks including bowling and kickball with the band, private house concerts, and band members making personal happy birthday phone calls. Their latest campaign through PledgeMusic reached 154% of its goal within weeks. The fans are the lifeblood of Antigone Rising and have always been the most critical part of the formula.
