Live Interview With Major Alonzo Byrd Jr., A Young Man With A Vision

    in Christianity

He grew up to hard working parents that retired, doing what they believed was right and lived on their retirement. That's not enough nowadays. They were lied to, and his book was written to change the future of its readers, so that you'll have it better than him and his ancestors. We are to progress forward in all areas of life. He watched not only his parents struggle, but also all his aunts, uncles, and friends to this day. He believed it doesn't have to be this way. He wanted to change all that, and he would die behind this principle alone: to make life better for those around him. When he was little a guy, he always saw himself as a great innovator like Marcus Garvey, or a profound thinker like Frederick Douglass, or the black Tony Stark (“Ironman”). He was a young problem solver, inventor, and business owner.

He stayed in his imagination. He was an A & B student, studied and worked hard, yet he was always curious about life, like how and what he can do to contribute to the world. He owned Legos & Knex. he would build everything you could imagine, and then go beyond the expectations of the creators of the toy. He used to take apart everything and put it together again, until he started my first business. He was about 6 or 7, when he began to sell comic books. Next, he opened his candy business.  This young man was busy...

Join me Hezekiah L. Montgomery host of The Man In The Mirror, and my guest co-host Deacon Thomas Farr from "Issues Christian Men Talk, as we interview this young man, the Black Tony Stark, a man with a vision, the one and only Major Alonzo Byrd Jr.  He'll give us the 411 about how he became an entrepreneur, author and how he motivates our young people today with the Y.U.P Incentive.

    in Lifestyle

Marcus Y. Rosier is an author, transformational speaker, life coach and author coach. He gives information and inspiration; to wake each person up to the possibilities and potential of their lives. Once awake he gives his audience practical strategy and step-by-step implementation to win in every area of their life.

Marcus has a unique story that has afforded him a variety of diverse life experiences. He graduated at the tender age of 16 years old, and by the age of 19 he purchased his first home. He was also part owner of a real estate investment company and Founder & CEO of two companies of his own. In addition, he was the Founder & CEO of a non-profit organization for at-risk youth ages 13-18.

After years of success Marcus found himself having to fight the declining housing market and economic recession. His life and businesses quickly changed, and he was forced to start all over and embrace the process of rebuilding his life. It was then that Marcus set out on a journey to discover who he was outside of the status and material things he acquired, and to redefine his concept of success. During this process, that Marcus discovered and developed the concept and life practice that changed his life. This practice he titled, “WIN THE DAY.” This concept is to make every hour of the day worth $100 and make the entire day worth $2,400. His life practice was, and is, to invest a minimum of $240 (2 hours and 40 minutes) into his talent, personal growth, and character development, each and everyday. It was the concept of “WIN THE DAY” that helped him to redefine and reclaim true success.

    Is Organic Agriculture Doomed?

    in Environment

With the approval of GMO Alfalfa, GMO Sugar Beets and GMO Corn, organic farmers are fighting harder than ever to protect their land and crops. Meanwhile, the agro-chemical companies are pleased that their profits are soaring. It is assumed that organic is in peril. Why is this devastating to organic farmers? One main reason is cross-fertilization. This is especially disastrous for organic farmers because once an organic field is contaminated, the organic farmer’s certification is at risk. The organic label prohibits the use of GMO crops. Losing organic certification would mean the farmer’s goods can no longer be sold for the premium price that helps cover the costs of growing organically. According to Farmaid.org, most genetically engineered crops hitting the market are developed by multinational companies such as Monsanto, Syngenta, Dupont and Dow Chemical to increase their sales and push their related pesticides. For example, Roundup Ready crops are engineered to withstand Monsanto’s toxic herbicide Roundup. With Roundup Ready alfalfa and sugar beets on the market, Monsanto can expect increased profits from its new seeds, as well as increased sales of Roundup herbicide to douse all those new seeds. This has also been a core issue for the beekeeping community which has expressed concern that the combination of GMO crops with the companion technology of neonicotinoids is devastating the rapidly declining bee population. It appears that the fate of organic farmers in the USA seems doomed but is it? In this encore segment of The Organic View, host, June Stoyer talks to organic farming advocate, Dr. Bob Quinn, President of Kamut® International. Today's show is sponsored by Eden Foods. DISRUPT YOURSELF: Putting the Power of Disruptive Innovation to Work by Whitney Johnson

This on demand audio series is a part of the Executive Girlfriends Group Vignette Series. Chicke Fitzgerald interviews Whitney Johnson. The original live interview was 2/5/16.

Consider this simple yet powerful idea: disruptive companies and ideas upend markets by doing something truly different—they see a need, an empty space waiting to be filled, and they dare to create something for which a market may not yet exist.

As president and co-founder of Rose Park Advisors’ Disruptive Innovation Fund with Clayton Christensen, Whitney Johnson utilized the theory of disruptive innovation to invest in publicly traded stocks and private early stage companies.

Big Picture Health Care Trends & A Legislative Update

    in Business

On this week's show, hosts Andrew Dietz and Doug Field talk with special guests from copatient, Brighton Health Plan Solutions and TASC.

The first guest is Tom Torre, CEO at copatient, a health care expense management company. In this segment, Tom joins the hosts to discuss the big health care trends that copatient is seeing in the market today and why copatient exists. As an industry veteran with past executive roles at FIS Global and Alegeus Technologies, Tom will also touch upon copatient’s medical bill review and negotiation service and out-of-network claims management service and what benefit these services have to health plans, employers, brokers and TPAs.

The second guest is Simeon Schindelman, CEO of Brighton Health Plan Solutions (parent company of MagnaCare). The traditional health care system fails to align the interests of the key players, doesn’t put consumer care first and also underserves other key stakeholders, such as care providers, plan sponsors, families of patients and brokers/agents. Educating plan sponsors and plan participants about options and tradeoffs, while developing trusting relationships so they value advice being offered, will improve their ability to access and use the health care system most appropriately. In this interview, Simeon and the hosts talk about thoughtful approaches to lowering health care costs, improving quality and increasing the satisfaction of all participants in the health care system.

The final guest on this week's program is Jason Westphal, legislative analyst at TASC. As head of TASC’s Governmental Affairs team, a member of ECFC and former chief of staff in the Wisconsin State Assembly, Jason will provide listeners with insights on legislative issues pertaining to compliance for the small employer, document storage, sharing and tracking, the Employer Shared Responsibility Mandate and ERISA.
