Challenges of Spiritual Leadership - Quantum Physics of Beliefs

    in Self Help

Realizing the Challenges of Spiritual Leadership

    Radio Talk, December 13, 2014 @ 8 pm CST

Spiritual leadership involves intrinsically motivating and inspiring your teams through hope/faith in a vision of service to key stakeholders and a corporate culture based on the values of altruistic love to produce a highly motivated, committed and productive workforce.

Today many individuals are struggling with what their spirituality means for their work since this is where they spend vast majority of their waking hours. The office is now where more and more people eat, exercise, date, drop their kids, and even nap.

Because of this, a major change is taking place in the personal and professional lives of leaders as many of them more deeply integrate their spirituality and their work.

There is an old saying that you can’t lead others if you can’t lead yourself. It is therefore difficult, if not impossible, to implement organizational spiritual leadership without strong personal spiritual leadership.

Change Transformation - Quantum Physics of Beliefs

    in Self Help

How Leaders Can Transform for Change

    Radio Talk, December 06, 2014 @ 8pm CST

When we fall short of making permanent lifestyle modifications, we take comfort in the belief that, if we really wanted to change, we could alter our behaviors.

Contrary to what we have been historically taught, I believe we have the power to control our experience of life, we don’t have to prove we are worthy to have the right to life, and we are not naturally immoral.

When asked what keeps them up at night, CEOs involved in transformation often say they are concerned about how the work force will react, how they can get their team to work together, and how they will be able to lead their people.

Leadership teams that fail to plan for the human side of change often find themselves wondering why and where their best-laid out plans have gone fruitless.

Trust - Quantum Physics of Beliefs

    in Self Help

    Language of Trust

    Radio Talk, November 29, 2014 @ 8pm CST

"To be persuasive we must be believable.

To be believable we must be credible.

To be credible we must be Truthful." ~ Edward R. Murrow

At this time of economic upheaval and political transition, TRUST is an issue that's front and center more than ever.

Fragile TRUST is a hidden variable – lurking beneath the surface as it slows down processes and drives up costs.

Why does this occur? A primary reason is that most people still regard trust as just a nice to have social virtue and don't yet understand trust as an issue they can do something about explicitly, deliberately, and quantitatively.

Disengaged employees are enormously expensive. Engagement flows out of TRUST, and TRUST flows out of engagement. They are mutually reinforcing.

Engaging people's heads, hearts, and hopes is all about relationships of mutual purpose, mutual respect, and mutual TRUST.

Authentic Leadership - Quantum Physics of Beliefs

    in Self Help

    Authentic Leadership

    Radio Talk, November 22, 2014 @ 8pm Chicago Time

Authentic leadership is a product of honesty.

Authentic leadership is also a product of clarity.

We become what we want to be by being what we want to become.

Becoming an authentic leader requires day-to-day focus and lifelong commitment to self-discovery.

    Authenticity = Trust

Authentic leadership is all about trust.

Can our people trust us to tell them the truth?

Can our people trust us to stake out a path that is for the best good of everyone, not just us?

Can our people trust us to accept feedback and even criticism without getting defensive or, worse, engaging in retribution?

Can they trust us to give them the resources they need to do the work we demand?

It was Mahatma Gandhi who said, "The moment there is a suspicion about a person's motives, everything he does becomes tainted."

Challenges of Leadership - Round Table - Quantum Physics of Beliefs

    in Self Help

    Recognizing the Challenges of Leadership

    November 15, 2014 – Round Table Discussion @ 8pm Chicago Time

If there weren’t challenges, we’d have little need for leaders.

For leaders everywhere, some challenges are unique and temporary, but many others are common and ongoing.

Organizations today place multiple demands on leaders, requiring them to impart vision, initiate change, and make difficult decisions.

The challenges of leadership are inside leaders. Stop blaming organizations and others for your shortfalls and failures.

"Take the bull by the horns. You are the bull."

    You not situations:

Leadership challenges always involve changing situations. You, however, are the common factor. Your ability to lead yourself is your greatest ability.

"Situations come and go but you are always there."

Mark Burton is founder of ShurGrowth Advisors and a managing partner with California Capital Partners.

Mark has headed up practice development for a boutique “Wall Street” law firm that focused on alternative investments including mergers & acquisitions and IPO transactions. He also spent a number of years heading up legal affairs and development for both a national valuation firm and a boutique M&A firm with an international practice.

Mark quit smoking using E-cigarettes after a serious heart attack over a year ago. He recognized that the e-cigarette / vapor industry was rapidly growing, but that there are few business professionals supporting them. From his passion for "vaping" and for helping others to quit smoking, along with his love for helping businesses grow, he now provides a suite of services to E-cig companies.

Currently, Burton is Co-President of the Southern California chapter of the Smoke Free Alternatives Trade Association (SFATA). He serves as an advisory board member for Wowio, an electronic book publisher, and Deal Lounge, an internet hub for private equity and investment bankers.
