Today we are sending you a show done by our Coffee Talk Radio partner, Tim Danahey. His daily shows this week are something of "an American self examination".
This episode, "Want to Run for Congress? Listen to What Happened to This American":
If you don’t believe money has taken over government, then listen to this story about how a citizen ran for Congress in Colorado’s 4th District. Vic Meyers is a long-time party loyalist who offered to be the candidate since no one wanted to oppose the established political party in this uncompetitive redistricted Congressional seat. Vic Meyers encountered party leaders who wouldn’t support him unless he had $200,000 seed money. A partisan newspaper ordered its reporter to cover a chihuahua race rather than interview him. When he organized fund-raisers, party leaders came in from other districts, discouraged people from contributing to Vic’s campaign, and poached contributions for other candidates in other districts. The stories continue in this damning indictment of money and politics in post-Citizens United America.

In the early morning hours of September 3, 2006, professional truck driver Randy Tomblin pulled his rig over on the side of I-64 near Huntington, West Virginia. Randy was responding to a lady waving on the side of the interstate, apparently with a flat tire. The time was about 3:00 A.M.
Having always been a good samaritan, Tomblin thought to himself that there was no way he was going to let a women change a tire alone and in the dark. As he walked pass the auto, a male suddenly appeared, hitting Tomblin over the head with what police believed to be a .380-caliber handgun.
Tomblin would be robbed of $200 and as he attempted to rise to his feet, the man fired one bullet that lodged between his lower back and pelvis and which still remains there today. The shooting would cause Randy to spend four months in a wheelchair and unable to work for eleven months.
As a professional driver for 39 years, Randy Tomblin joins us as our special guest to share his story and to discuss his views on Mike's Law - a proposed Bill to Congress by the Small Business in Transportation Coalition which if signed into law, would allow U.S. citizens engaged in interstate commerce to carry a concealed weapon throughout all states, thus not being held to the current reciprocity laws.
The legislative draft entitled Sec. 9999 “Americans Working in Interstate Commerce Protection Act of 2014” is named for trucker, Mike Boeglin who was fatally shot in June of this year in Detroit, Michigan. As of the time of this writing, the petition has received 8,388 signatures.
Join us with our special guest, Randy Tomblin as he shares his story, the thoughts on why Congress should pass Mike's Law and the ongoing problems still faced today from that one moment in time back in 2006.

Welcome to Bill Martinez Live, hosted by an unapologetic AMERICAN U.S. Marine of Mexican descent who knows why people come to America but demands that immigrants come through the front door and that the rule of law is respected. Bill Martinez Live waves just one flag and has no use for hyphenated hearts torn between the 4th of July and some other foreign flag. We put the United States over party politics and broadcasting our unstinting praise of this great land to 250 American cities through CRN, BML syndication and the ever popular Blog Talk Radio platform.
Republicans & Democrats have lost a grasp on life, liberty and pursuit of happiness for ALL Americans. Bill Martinez Live helps us regain it. Listen in to the show to hear every facet of the issues but keep your eye on God and the exceptionalism to which he has urged on America and its people. Our nation is at a crossroads but remember your solemn birthright fellow Americans as "We the People". See more at: http://billmartinezlive.com/about-the-program/#sthash.tooJ0atj.dpuf
Our conversation this week has been all about torture, and now the Congress is fighting against reconciling with Cuba. We have accepted Torture as a way of life even though it is not how we as a nation have operated in the past. 130 Children shot dead in a school in Pakistan, six members of a family in Pennsylvania, killed by an ex-husband, before he commits suicide, and young Black men shot dead in the streets of our cities and in the parks and in Wal Mart. There needs to be a reconsideration of what is right as we pass through this life. We need to respect each other and wish only the best for one another.
