This episode was recorded December 14th, 2014. It was November 1950. The U.S. military was moving toward the North Korean border with China and Mao. MacArthur wanted to continue into Manchuria. The coldest winter in 100 years desended upon Korea. The troops on the front thought they’d be home by christmas. Then—they reached the Chosin reservoir and the Chinese swept across the border. Hear this gripping story from those who were there. Join host, Bob Gould and guests: historian Col. William Latham U.S. Army (ret), Marine Korean War vet Sgt.Fred Sozio, Sgt. Paul Fortino and others as we listen to the retelling of the “Chosin Peninsula”.
Lt Col Folsom tells the story of a Marine battalion fighting in Afghanistan and the gritty story of training, war, IEDs and staying alive in this conflict. Lt Col Folsom is a grunt's officer walking the patrols with the troops.
Bing has been a frequent guest on Veterans Radio. He has written ten books about war and close-in battle. A graduate of Georgetown and Princeton Universities, in Vietnam he was a member of the Marine Force Reconnaissance team that initiated Operation Stingray –attacks behind enemy lines deep in the jungles. He also understands high-level strategy. While serving as Assistant Secretary of Defense under President Reagan, he chaired the United States Security Commissions with El Salvador, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, South Korea and Japan. Bing West’s amazing insight into what has been going on in the Middle East and the various terrorist organizations from that part of the world have always been “dead on”.
Deeply reported, beautifully written, and powerfully moving, Soldier Girls is “a breakthrough work...What Thorpe accomplishes in Soldier Girls is something far greater than describing the experience of women in the military. The book is a solid chunk of American history...Thorpe triumphs” (The New York Times Book Review).
the relationship between the VA and many of the university medical centers that are in bed with them, we will touch on the well over 300,000 veterans that were exposed to Agent Orange who dies when the VA refused to acknowledge the well known cancer precurosors that exposure spawned nor the ishemic heart conditions. we will take a stroll down memory lane and recall the report McDonald delivered to congress early last year in which he declared that more veterans die of suicide who are not involved in VA care than of those who are and the report by NBC news 6 weeks later that detailed how 80% of the veterans they surveyed who had attempted suicide had in fact been "treated" by the VA in the 30 days leading up to their lest attempt.
We will cover the THOUSANDS of TBI medical incident reports that the DoD removed from the records of the people who suffered even severe TBI throughout the 60s, 70s, and 80s who were kept in service AND the new technology that can time stamp those injuries today! Ialso know what happpened to those records too and where they might be located providing they were not destroyed follwing the VA's refusal to take custody of them in 2014.
And the fact that chronic homelessness is well known symptom of post concussion syndrome.
We Will speak of McDonalds desire to limit the evidence submission period. This is of course is the direct result of the information age allowing more evidence to be collected at a faster rate then ever before. So I guess he wants to limit the time frame of that to something under the DECADES it can take to get a LEGITIMATE claim approved right?

The Raid that Rescued Us. The Mission that Defines Our Lives.
You are trapped behind enemy lines. You feel it every day. Powerful forces want to destroy you and those you love. Completely surrounded, you see no means to escape.
Sadly, the Jesus we often picture is too timid to help--more like a daytime talk show host than a dangerous Rescuer.
Who would follow--much less risk everything--for such a leader?
Get ready to see Jesus like you've never seen him before--a battle-scarred Combatant who stared death in the face and won. This is no Sunday-school Jesus, meek and mild. This is the Warrior Christ who has descended from the heavens, defeated the Enemy, and rescued humanity. Now, he calls us to continue his mission and fight for others--our families, our communities, and the world.
In Jesus Was an Airborne Ranger, Army Chaplain John McDougall offers an alternative to the soft, gentle caricature of Jesus. Only the Warrior Christ can impact our broken world. And only in following him can you find the life of purpose you've always wanted.
SUIT UP. It's time to enter the fight with the first and greatest Airborne Ranger.
