The late General Douglas McArthur once said this "only those are fit to live are not afraid to die". As a former marketing associate for a hospice organization I have met with family members and their dying loved ones and at times I have heard them say I'm afraid to die others said they couldn't wait to see the Lord. The apostle Paul said "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain". He seemed ready to meet his savior and Lord. Yet why is it that we find it very difficult to die to the self-life and live for Christ here on earth? This afterall is where it counts the most right? Righteous living before a Holy God and shining our lights before a lost and dying world. It's really a very difficult and hard teaching isn't it. That the God we seek to serve is asking us to deny ourselves, take up His cross and follow Him. And for each of us that one thing or attitude we struggle with can be the very thing we must place 10 feet under to live a full life in Christ. You know what it is for you, perhaps its selfishness, greed, lust, ography, idolatry, hatred, deceitful desires, sexual immorality just to name a few. So yes in crucifying the flesh with its lust and passions we once gave our lives to Christ in full repentance perhaps been buried in baptism and ressurected with Him into newness of life.....and then comes a word found in Colossians 3:5 which says "put to death therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed which is idolatry. Lord please always remind me when I'm hostile towards you and living outside your will for me. May the power of your Holy Spirit break all chains of sin that seeks to choke my life in you. In my pursuit for holiness help me Lord to turn away from worthless, vainless and fruitless things and put to death those deeds of the flesh that so desperately wants to kill my peace and joy.

On today's Life Lessons show, discover why small businesses are so important to America?
· How veterans can get help turning a hobby or passion into their own small business?
· Where entrepreneurs can get the resources and information they need to start a business?
· Who is eligible to take advantage of a Navy Federal Business Services membership?
We hear a lot about helping our brave veterans, but the sad fact is that despite an improving economy, many vets have difficulty finding employment after leaving the military. The jobless rate among vets remains higher than the civilian population. That’s why, in celebration of National Small Business Week (May 1-7), the not-for-profit Navy Federal Credit Union is hoping to spread the word that entrepreneurship – if done right – can be a rewarding career for military veterans. To kick off National Small Business Week, we have a special interview with Jim Salmon, the head of Business Lending at Navy Federal Credit Union. A decorated veteran himself, Salmon will also discuss why it’s good business to support veteran-owned and operated businesses and how veterans have many of the skills necessary to run a successful business.
Join author Billy Jones for an interview with Mario Vazquez, artist, educator and United States Military Veteran. Mario was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and grew up in the small town of Cidra. Mario also worked as a postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service in Stratford, Connecticut. Mario inherited the talents and career interests of his parents...his father is an electronics technician and photographer, and his mother is a nurse and teacher. From winning Teacher of the Year to serving as a Student Success Specialist and College Professor, Mario epitomizes dedication and servitude to self, the community and the nation. David Wayne - David is a survivor, advocate and consultant working on a volunteer basis since 2010, focusing primarily on policy, and also serving victims and survivors directly through case management, referrals and peer counseling, often long distance to other areas of the US and Canada. Although a lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, his work within the state has been limited due to concerns on privacy and avoiding entanglements with former perpetrators.
In addition to serving with advocacy as a member of the National Survivor Network and Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS), David also advocates for girls and women who have been incarcerated as a result of sexual exploitation and trafficking, through formerly incarcerated survivor Sara Kruzan’s organization, I am SJK. David recently graduated from Rebecca Bender Ministry's Virtual Mentoring Program, a unique experience powered by survivors for survivors, and joined the Board of Directors of Project Soteria, another survivor-led organization, which works to prevent and eradicate exploitation while providing advocacy for juvenile justice. He also recently joined Cancer InCytes Magazine as an Editorial Adviser for the Culture, Law and Policy Department. David’s open letter to Amnesty International USA was featured and published among other survivor letters in opposition to Amnesty’s proposed policy that decriminalizes commercial sex business operators and sex buyers. David’s work also includes assistance with research and investigations, and he is the lead organizer of an effort to develop a regional task force against human trafficking in Northeast Pennsylvania.
