The Wedding Jeannie’s Spring Venue Series; the Fort Washington Ave. Armory!

    in Romance

The Wedding Jeannie’s Spring Venue Series Continues with the Armory Foundation!

While Park Avenue’s Armory may be the most famous in Manhattan, did you know that there are 6 others in New York City?  If not, this might be the show that you want to tune in for because the Fort Washington Avenue Armory on 168th Street, is only 20 minutes from Columbus circle on the A and is open for event business! Known more for maintaining the US National Track and Field Hall of Fame and hosting large track and field events rather than social and corporate events, we decided it was time to let the cat out of the bag about the possibilities for this space, especially if your guest count is over a few hundred. Its capacity is one of its biggest assets; there are not many venues in the city that can accommodate thousands of people in one space, but that’s just the beginning.

We’ll speak with Maria Lupardo, Associate VP of Special Events, to uncover all the details about this surprise venue and how to host an event there!

The Wedding Jeannie’s Spring Venue Series Continues with Weylin B. Seymour’s!

    in Romance

The Wedding Jeannie’s Spring Venue Series Continues with Weylin B. Seymour’s!

This week we highlight a spectacular new venue that is somewhat of a hidden gem, but not for long! Weylin B. Seymour’s, historically the Williamsburgh Savings Bank, is one of the most exquisite venues in Brooklyn. The venue, built in 1875, still boasts stunning original architecture (including the teller booths!) but the restoration gives it a modern twist. Beyond bringing old world elegance to Brooklyn in a 21st century way, it also allows for greater capacity numbers than many Brooklyn venues, not to mention the high end catering that we are all expecting to hear about on the show..…..

We will chat with Carlos Perez San Martin, who runs the venue, about its fascinating history, the story behind the new name, their entire private events process, and much, much more!

Join Jeannie Uyanik live at noon on Wednesday, April 2nd for another exciting show in the series!

Alicia Michelle "Miki" Howard (born September 30, 1960) is an American R&B/jazz singer and actress who had a string of Top 10 hit songs in the late-1980s and early-1990s, including "Baby, Be Mine", "Come Share My Love" and "Love Under New Management". "Ain't Nobody Like You" and "Ain't Nuthin' in the World" both peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard Top R&B Singles chart.

Howard was born in Chicago, Illinois. She is the daughter of gospel singers Josephine Howard[1] of The Caravans, and Clay Graham of The Pilgrim Jubilees.[2][3] Howard's mother took her to the homes of various stars such as Aretha Franklin and Mavis Staples. At the age of nine, Howard and her family moved to Los Angeles where Howard's mother sung in a choir led by Caravans member and arranger James Cleveland. Among those who visited Howard's Los Angeles residence were Albertina Walker, Shirley Caesar, Billy Preston and Fats Domino. Howard was also influenced by jazz greats, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and Nancy Wilson.

As a teenager, she often visited Maverick's Flat, a popular night club in Los Angeles, and a venue for music acts such as Rufus and Chaka Khan and Earth Wind & Fire, who were influential in her pursuit of a professional singing career.

At the age of 16, she performed in a teen pageant. After the show, she met singer Augie Johnson,[4] leader and member of R&B group Side Effect,[5] who happened to be in the audience and began working with Howard on music. Johnson charmed Howard and later chose her as the vocalist for the group.

Bobby Cool Interviews with Az 1 Promo Radio

    in Music

BIO: Georgia-raised, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Bobby Cool’s brand of music is infused with country, bluegrass, and roots. His debut album, Light In The Dark, which was nominated by the IMAs for Country Album of the Year, is a compilation of well-crafted stories, examining life and the most fundamental matters of the heart.

Produced by Mike Proctor (worked with Little Big Town, Gary Allen, Lionel Richie) and self-released on his own label, Cool Records, the album is comprised of 14 songs, 13 of which he wrote/co-wrote.

While attending the University of Georgia, Cool’s education in music began, not in a classroom, but in the historic downtown Athens scene. One venue in particular was a frequent spot for he and his friends. “I probably wouldn’t be playing music if it weren’t for the Georgia Theatre,” he says. “We were there a few times a month and my love for performing definitely came out of those shows.”

In addition to writing, recording, and performing, Bobby is involved with World Vision to impact communities locally and abroad. “One goal for the upcoming tour is to build a well, sponsored by World Vision,” he says. “50% of all downloads on the website go towards building a sustainable clean water source for an entire community. I’m hoping that we can make it happen and that it is the start of something that we continue to do with each project and each tour.” For tour dates and more, visit bobbycoolmusic.com.
