#136 Dr. Kathy Masarie - Parent / Family Coach

    in Family

Parenting expert Dr. Kathy Masarie is generous in heart and spirit. Her caring commitment to the well-being of families touches all facets of her life. In her pediatric practice in the late 1980s and 1990s, Dr. Kathy spent extra time getting to know each family.

From many professional experiences, she knew how lonely parents can feel in today’s culture. She saw parents, especially parents of teens, struggling in isolation with family-centered problems such as pregnancy, depression, risky drinking and drug use.

In 1996, she founded the non-profit organization Full Esteem Ahead and then Family Empowerment Network to “support parents to support kids and one another.” Through FEN and with colleague Ruthie Matinko-Wald, she offers parenting talks and classes as well as support materials in the way of parenting books and videos that can be used as curriculum for self-led discussion groups.

Since their publication, Raising Our Daughters, Raising Our Sons, and Face to Face: Cultivating Kids’ Social Lives in the Digital World Parenting Guides have provided parents, school professionals and other caring adults with powerful vehicles for learning, self-discovery, networking and connecting with kids and other adults.

Today, Kathy continues to spread the word about the power of parent networking through presentations, seminars and classes. She is also available for one-on-one parent, individual or family coaching.

Military Monday With John D. Gresham and Zenith Press Author Phil Keith

    in History

USS Lexington (CV 2), along with her sister ship, USS Saratoga (CV 3), were America's first real aircraft carriers, and genuine wonders of the world we were commissioned in the late 1920s. Converted from a pair of battlecruiser hulls made surplus by the Washington Naval Treaty, the two ships were the largest, most powerful, and fastest warships in the world. Able to carry and operate up to 90 aircraft, twice as many as any of the contemporary British and Japanese aircraft carriers, Lexington and her sister ship were the platforms where the U.S. Navy learned to take airpower out to sea. But Lexington was more than just a ship, for she also was a home and a schoolhouse for the men who served aboard her. As American's aircraft carrier fleet grew prior to World War II, Lexington and her sister were the ships where the men who would crew those new carriers learned their trades. In addition, some of the U.S. Navy's greatest leaders in World War II were captains aboard the Lexington, including Adm. Ernest J. King and Rear Adm. Forrest Sherman. And even though Lexington was lost at the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942, her loss taught critical damage control lessons that are still used today.

To learn more about "Lady Lex," tune in at 1 PM EDT for Military Monday (#MilitaryMonday on the Writestream Radio Network (@Writestream)) hosted by author, historian, journalist and documentary filmmaker John D. Gresham (@greshamj01). John's guest this week is Zenith Press (@Zenith_Press) author Phil Keith, who has written a new book, STAY THE RISING SUN, chronicles the story of the Lexington to her sinking in the Coral Sea.

The Transcendent Mind: The Missing Peace in Emotional Wellbeing

    in Spirituality

The Transcendent Mind The Missing Peace in Emotional Wellbeing with Sunita Pattani

Does contemporary psychotherapy really work in healing the various types of emotional damage that many experience throughout their lives? Or is it only putting a small band-age on a much bigger problem? Author Sunita Pattani writes in her new book, The Transcendent Mind: The Missing Peace in Emotional Wellbeing, that without under-standing the connection between mind, body and spirit, we can never be wholly healed. The integration of the spiritual with the science of traditional psychology can lead to a deeper and transcendent understanding of our existence and purpose, allowing us to live fuller and more meaningful lives.

The Transcendent Mind takes the reader through the four elements of the Transcendent Healing Process, which includes the role of nutritional healing, and how healing our body can accelerate the process of healing our minds. She also discusses in length the phenomena of both near-death experiences and out-of-body experiences and why they contribute to the understanding of the nature of our own reality.

For those in the Washington DC area you have a great opportunity to see Sunita in person.

On the Thursday, the 30th of April she will be conducting The Missing Peace in Emotional Wellbeing Workshop at Alchemists Books and Gifts in Richmond VA and on

Saturday the 2nd of May she will be speaking about The Transcendent Mind - Emotional Healing: The Complete picture at The Sacred Circle Bookstore in Alexandria VA.

YTC Presents Skin Care, Albertini International

    in Lifestyle

Carolyn Bendall is the editor of Your True Colours Magazine and fashion critic/image consultant.  Each Monday morning she brings you entertainment, fashion, and engaging stories and people.

Albertini International is the creation of Valorie Albertini, a long-time beauty expert who has spent 25 years testing and developing skin care and hair products for major manufacturers.  Valorie has spent years collaborating on videos with topics ranging from the newest products, to what works and what doesn’t, and how products and ingredients actually work. Through the years, Valorie discovered a change in her own skin and began talking with her friends and clients about how their skin was changing as they got older.  Valorie discovered, as do many women, that her skin began to change about the same time her hormones did, at the beginning of menopause. Having little patience for things which can and should be remedied, she set out to find a solution.

Having spent the last few years researching and testing, Valorie developed a formula for her new product, Divine skin hydrator. This unique formulation locks the water in skin cells, helping to restore skin’s Natural Moisture Factor, providing a solution to the dry skin problem experienced by women worldwide.

Albertini International’s focus is about creating beauty solutions for the specific problems that nearly everyone encounters. Beauty issues that happen after age 45. Albertini International offers Skin Care for Women Old Enough to Know and Young Enough to Care!
