On this morning's program, the hosts will explore all of the latest trends in health savings accounts and self-funding with two special guests. The first guest will be Chad Wilkins, EVP and head of HSA Bank. The rise in health care costs, a shift to consumer-directed health plans and legislative changes are driving the future of health care and are expanding the role of health savings accounts. Additionally, recent studies have indicated a majority of Americans are not prepared to pay for essential expenses in retirement – including the cost of health care. In this segment, Chad Wilkins joins us to bring HSA Bank’s perspective on these industry trends and their impact on employers and consumers. We’ll also explore opportunities for industry providers to participate in emerging trends and maximize the value they provide to their constituents.
For the second segment, starting at 11:30 a.m. (ET), the hosts will welcome Cheryl DeMars, president and CEO, The Alliance, to the program for a discussion on self-funding. The Alliance, a cooperative of employers that self-fund their health benefits, developed the QualityPath initiative to create a path to high quality care at a lower cost. The Alliance QualityPath program is one of few nationwide that measures the performance of a specific doctor at a specific hospital. Other innovative elements include bundled payments and paying close attention to the patient experience with 100 percent coverage of procedure costs, a 90-day warranty and shared decision-making.

Good morning, good morning, GOOD morning!!! Wow, Friday, already, where does the time go? It keeps tick, tick, ticking away. Today's topic is, IT IS WHAT IT IS, and I'd like to add, IT CAN'T BE NOTHING BUT. Sometimes in our lives, we want certain things, people and places, but we can't have them. Why, because that's just the way that it is. In our relationships, we may be with people who are not living up to our wants and needs, as individuals, and we try to make them who we need them to be, but in reality, THEY CAN ONLY BE WHO THEY ARE. And let's not talk abuot our lives, these lives that we desire to be a certain way, by a certain timeframe, in our lives. We work ever so hard, to create the life we desire, and it seems that life doesn't want to cooperate, but you must realize that, as long as you're working towards change, it's gonna come, when, is the issue at hand. Guess what, it can only happen when it's supposed to happen, until then, IT IS WHAT IT IS, CAN'T BE NOTHING BUT.
On today's podcast we will be discussing the new teaser trailer for BATMAN V SUPERMAN set to be released tomorrow 4/16. Also we have new releases and a review of Convergence issue #0
The issue of colorism in the black diaspora is as old as slavery and colonialism itself. Any discussion of the topic brings up many painful incidents of childhood and every black person seems to have a story to tell about how it has affected their lives in some way. The various issues that exist around skin shade have affected the way that black people view themselves and each other. Of particular interest is the effect and impact that colorism has had on dark skinned black women. Rashida Marie Strober is taking on the task of tackling the issue and speaking out against the discrimination that dark skinned women have faced and bringing to the forefront the impact it has had on their well being emotionally and psychologically. Join us for a lively discussion of her new book and the topic of colorism in the black community. CALL IN WITH QUESTIONS: 347.215.8933
