Just in time for GEOINT Community Week, USGIF will be launching its new official publication called Trajectory Magazine. This exciting new publication will provide high-level thought leadership for USGIF members, as well as for the overall intelligence, defense, aerospace, and homeland security communities.
Today we are speaking with Keith Masback, USGIF President, and Kristin Quinn, USGIF’s new Publications and Communications Manager, about Trajectory.
Since 2009, the USGIF Young Professionals Group (YPG) has played a major role in advancing the geospatial intelligence tradecraft by utilizing the unique talents of the next generation of GEOINT leaders.
At GEOINT 2012, the YPG has a number of unique events and activities that are very exciting and provide further opportunities for young GEOINT professionals to be further engaged with the community.
Today, we are speaking with Carrier Drake with USGIF, Mike Campanelli, with RadiantBlue Technologies – he is also a new USGIF board member and co-chair of the YPG – as well as Kim Hansen of MDA, who will participating in YPG activities for the first time at the symposium.
Intergraph just announced that it has donated free educational software licenses of both ERDAS IMAGINE and GeoMedia to all 25 recipients of the 2012 United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) scholarship awards.

USGIF board member Dr. Christopher Tucker has been very busy lately working on the MapStory.org initiative, which will enable a global community of experts to “crowd source” socio-cultural data within a geospatial and temporal framework through an online social media channel or platform. MapStory is also intended to be an infrastructure enabling “MapStorytelling” as a means of communicating important socio-cultural dynamics to a global audience.

This year at GEOINT 2011, the USGIF Technical Committee is hosting a number of events including the Interoperability Tech Talks, the tradecraft luncheon and much more. Today we are speaking with both John Moeller and Robert Mott, who are the USGIF Technical Committee Co-Chairs.

On May 2, 2011, USGIF will be closing the application process for its 2011 scholarship program.
On August 19, the USGIF Young Professionals Group (YPG) is hosting its GEO HUNT educational exploration event on National Mall. YPG volunteers will guide and lead teams of children from the Greater Washington Boys and Girls Club through the exploration event, provide answers to clues, give an overview of maps and geospatial intelligence.

Each year, USGIF brings on a new board member who represents the foundation’s Young Professionals Group (YPG) and serves as the YPG working group’s chair during his or her one-year term. This Young Professionals board member has full voting power within the board and exemplifies all the qualities of a future leader and represents GEOINT Young Professionals as a whole. Last year, Mr. Alex Martinez, Staff Engineer at Lockheed Martin, served in this role. And, now he is passing the baton the newest YPG board member Eric Zitz, who is an Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton.
