All alcoholics and addicts feel shame. It’s impossible to avoid, and while shame is painful and can keep many of us stuck in the throes of addiction, there is hope. We do not have to be defined by our shame, and indeed learning tools to cope with shame and learn and grow as people is an integral part of recovery.
To begin with, though, it’s important to define shame. One way to do this is to clarify the difference between shame and guilt. Guilt is feeling badly about something we’ve done, and shame is feeling badly about who we are. Guilt is based on actions, and shame is built on feelings. Another way to put it is this: When we feel guilty we feel we made a mistake. When we feel shame we feel we are a mistake.
In this show, we will talk about building tools to identify shame, build awareness of it, talk about the importance of reaching out to reduce the power shame holds over you, and discuss the power of story and voice in reducing and even eliminating the hold shame has in your life.

A firestorm of controversy surrounds comedian Bill Cosby after multiple allegations have surfaced claiming that he sexually assaulted numerous women, with alleged incidents dating as far back as 1969.
The 77-year-old is known around the world for his role as the lovable father Heathcliff Huxtable on the long-running sitcom The Cosby Show, and for having a stand-up comedy career that spans five decades. However, beginning in 2004, various claims of sexual assault and date rape began being leveled against Cosby. He has never been charged in any criminal case regarding any of these accusations, and through attorneys has repeatedly denied that any of the allegations are true.
This case first received attention in 2002. Many were disappointed and surprised at his behavior and many of taken a stance and have come to his defense noting that these women are looking for 30 seconds of fame, if this happend why did they wait this long to say something and some even think that these women are trying to destroy his career. Why? What do YOU think? Did Cliff Huxtable fool us all?
In the 22nd chapter of the book of Luke, after listening to His disciples debate status amongst themselves, Jesus provided the following correction:
"The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called `benefactors.' But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the least, and he who governs as he who serves. For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves." (verses 25-27)
In the world's system, a hierarchy is defined as "a privilege of organization in which people or groups are ranked one above the other according to status or authority." The proverbial pyramid structure with the "greatest" at the apex.
According to our Lord and Savior in the passage provided above hierarchy is defined as "a responsibility within the organism that the Body of Christ is in which people or groups are gifted and/or selected to serve others, supporting their development and growth according in submission to scriptural authority. The inverted pyramid. Despite the clear cautionary command of our Lord, many throughout the century have adapted the hierarchical structure of the world to the church, leading to rampant abuse of authority and misinterpretation of God's Word. As many have begun to wake up to this distortion in revolution, some have even gone as far as to challenge the very existence of any hierarchical in the church ever. Does the Word of God teach such a thing? And if it did once, is such a thing even viable today? Join me as I expound on What God's Word says concerning Hierarchy in Church Leadership. When we serious look at things today, it was told to us in Judges 2:6-15. For those of us that have by pass this please go back to see what the Lord has shared. So I’m going to address the subject of passing on the baton from one generation to the next. I really want to sound a warning to each and every one of us that, even if we are like Joshua and his generation, who knew the Lord and experienced His power, this is no guarantee that our children and the next generation will follow in our footsteps. Let me be as open as I can each of us play a significant role in helping to pass on the baton to the next generation with great care, because the race could easily be lost if we fumble the baton. Those of you that are parent I want to give practical instruction to, as well as to others who join in this task of help raising this generation, and let me be mindful and show in detail on how to pass on the baton of faith to the next generation because its very important that they understand its a might win the race. Join us and share this lesson: "Passing The Baton To The Next Generation" also visit us at www.uptopministries.org and continue to send in your requests there
