World War II was very much a "coming out" for the men and missions of today's U.S. Air Force (USAF). Led by legendary airpower pioneers like Hap Arnold, Curtis LeMay and Jimmy Dolittle, the Army Air Force (AAF) of the 1940s grew by leaps and bounds in the 1940s, into the most destructive fighting force in history. But the majority of the fighting and dying was done by a young AAF officers who came of age in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Three of the most outstanding of these young officers were Paul Tibbets, "Dutch" Van Kirk, and Thomas Ferebee, who flew on the very first strategic bombing mission into France in 1942, and were part of the crew of the B-29 Superfortress "Enola Gay" which dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima in August 1945. The story of these three amazing young man is both compelling and historic, and worthy of a good book.

Few Americans today know about Operation Torch, America's first real large (multi-divisional) amphibious/expeditionary invasion of World War II. Torch, run with British/Commonwealth forces in November 1942, was designed to occupy French North Africa and flank Erwin Rommel's Afrika Korps during their retreat from El Alamein.Operation Torch was huge for its time, with five Allied divisions landing on three sets of beaches, running from Casablanca on the Atlantic coast to Oran in the Mediterranean. The largest amphibious landing ever run up to that time, Operation Torch was a crucible for Allied leaders and doctrine in World War II, and forged many of the postwar relationships that we recognize today.

Author, historian, journalist, documentary filmmaker, and host John D. Gresham (@greshamj01) has invited U.S. Naval Institute Press (@USNIBooks) author Vince O'Hara to discuss his new book, TORCH. TORCH is the story of one of America's least-know and riskiest operations of World War II. Please join us to hear about it for yourself.

SUNDAY PRAYER & DEVOTIONAL with Apostle Loretta Williams
TOPIC: I’m Battle Weary, Lord I Need A Breakthrough!
SUB: TOPIC: Release, Let Go and Break Forth!
TODAY'S DISCUSSION: There are a lot of saints who are being held captive by the enemy, our adversary, the Devil. He has a grip on our minds by tormenting us with fear, worry, anxiety and doubt. It’s not that we don’t trust God, we’re simply not applying the Word where it needs to be put in order to have positive results!
SCRIPTURE TEXT: (2 Corinthians 10:5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

Join us this week for another teaching from Evangelist Hope Brogdon. This week, she will be sharing regarding adversity in the Kingdom. How do you handle adversity? Are you attempting to wrestle with flesh and blood or are you dealing with the spirit behind the adversity? Are you taking this personal, aiming to get equal or are you turning the other cheek? So many have lost relationships because of the mishandling of adversity, but that can change.
Join us at 8:00 am EST for an Empowering dialogue with Evangelist Hope.
You will be Empowered!
Not so very long ago, students enrolled in university were taught rhetoric. That was of a time when the skill of persuasion was highly valued. It taught the difference between argument and debate. To do this, the student learned how to control their emotion. When an opponent approached the topic with temper, his effectiveness was lost- lose of such control was a vulnerability- the poker player with an obvious 'tell'. Why bring this up Graham? Why now? Good questions that deserve good answers. Today, we are on the cusp of a masonic cultural event. We don't need to doubt whether change is coming. It's already begun. We never have developed a narrative. How do we know? What is masonry? Ask ten masons that question and we get eleven opinions. Why? Because we work without a narrative that describes and operationalizes our philosophy. One of the rules of engagement for our fellows is to avoid controversy. If you have witnessed what happens when such matters are discussed, you know what I mean. Emotion uncontrolled burdens the topic and attempts to stifle discussion of the merit of all sides of the issues. Our narrative may be in fragments simply because we have not promoted the artfulness of rhetoric. Do you think it is stunning that we have a culture hundreds of years old, rich in lessons of ethics, principles, values, purpose, science and the arts and have yet to learn how to debate? Without a form to deal with controversial findings and opinions, we make difficult the capacity to acknowledge the evolution of masonic-culture. Yesterday I sat with a very earnest young mason- young only in years but not judgment. He responded to something said at the table with the muscularity that is typical of a group of men. BUT- after he had let us know he held serious opinions, he was gratefully receptive to debate- restore rhetoric I say!
