For centuries, music has been an essential aspect of the entertainment world. It has been an
inspiration for action and even movements. Music isn't just instruments or a certain voice, it is a form of art that takes you on a journey. The artist, of course, is the fore front in music, but it is ultimately defined according to the conditions of its production. Jamaica Queens, New York native, James Worthy, has been professionally creating his own footprints in music for five years now..

Thom began playing guitar at a very young age, music helped to deal with a broken home and never seeming to fit anywhere. Trained with a classical and jazz teacher, Thom switched to rock music and Jazz fusion and began performing and recording with various bands. During this time in between studio and touring despite growing popularity as a musician, Thom struggled as a very broken person covering the pain with alcohol, drugs and the accolades of playing music. During the 90's Thom toured all over the country, worked with artist's such as Jody Watley, Piece's of a Dream and doing session, his alcohol abuse at times put him on the streets and several suicide attempts. Seeming to live a double life as he continued to grow as a musician. In 2004, Thom hit bottom, and Jesus got through to him. Thom surrendered his life to Christ, walked away from drugs/alcohol and walked away from music, associating it with all the pain and suffering and began doing homeless, Hospice and poverty outreach as a way to heal and grow in Christ. In 2009, God instructed Thom to resume his music career, Thom was very reluctant but followed God's leading. Working with up and coming vocalist Angelia Robinson and with the band Pillar of Fire Thom was able to start channeling all he's been through, through the music and saw how God could reach people and change lives. Thom spent the next 3 years elevating with Jazz singer Lisa Gilliam, Vocalist's Tanya Blount, Mike Trotter, Iris Lewis and working with all kinds of artists, even HipHop. Thom formed the band The C and T Connection with Cassia The Poet who's testimony was similar and began an to minister with her and their band sharing their stories of hope and transformation. Thom also became Vocalist Tanya Dallas Lewis's guitarist again sharing the hope of Christ.

The Wardlaw Brothers on NiACOM Platform Tonight @ 7pm CST!!!
When thinking of 5 biological brothers that have made a huge impact on the world through music, two names automatically come to mind: The Jackson 5 and The Winans. Now, with a unique and extraordinary blend of vocal harmony, emerge five brothers known as THE WARDLAW BROTHERS (TWB).
Dubbed the “Boyz II Men of Gospel”, TWB consists of four lead singers, and one dynamic bass man. The eldest brother, Carl Anthony “Tony” has the traditional, soulful voice. Martin Luther “Lute” is the lead vocalist with a voice that speaks to the spirit. He is also the primary songwriter, musician and producer. “Jamie” Cornelius is the melodious bass man that defines TWB’s distinctive sound while Carl III “Carlo” melds in the urban/hip hop flavor. Lastly,Rodney Allen “Baby Boy”, contributes the smooth, serene voice of the five. Georgia natives, TWB are the sons of Rev. and Mrs. Carl Wardlaw Jr. who taught their children early that ministry was a part of life.
Over the years, with the discovery and nurturing of gifts, music ministry evolved. But, whether assisting others in need or mentoring troubled youth, TWB take pride in helping others and do not compromise that which was inspired by their parents.
They began to revise the original songs they sang as youth and sculpt their own distinctive brand of harmony and acclimation. The brothers realized how God had blessed them and they began composing their own songs.

Well if you're looking (or listening) for one last hurrah before the summer officially ends and school and the fall season star, why not listen to Afronerd Radio's Grindhouse broadcast, airing this Saturday at 6pm EST? Join Daryll B., Capt. Kirk and Dburt as they borrow the keys to Fred's "Mystery Machine" in order to anaylze this week's latest conundrums: actor/comedian/rapper, Donald Glover appears to have gotten his Spiderman wish ; has Wesley Snipes really been confirmed to revisit the Blade franchise for a cool 3 mill plus?; and speaking of reboots, our thoughts on Fox rebooting The Greatest American Hero series; Dburt and Comics Alliance's Chris Sims are both asking about the skewed trajectory of one of DC's original characters, Cassandra Cain (Batgirl); Spike Lee has a new comic but the crew must ask what is the overall end game for celebrity created comic books?; and how cool is it that the Black Nerd Problems site has dubbed the Afropunk festival the new "Wakanda" (we can dig it); and lastly, what would the crew like to see character development-wise in mainstream Black comic characters (Falcon, Panther, Storm, Black Lightning, Cage, etc)? Call live at 646-915-9620.
And in a display of designated hitter status, airs at 7pm. The topics on the table are: cleaning up some of the issues we failed to address during the last show (i.e. the #iftheygunnedmedown campaign, Kevin Sorbo rant; Megyn Kelly vs Bill O'reilly on White privilege, Mo'ne Davis); is that a budding "afronerd" we see in a car seat viral video? (how exasperating!) ; 71 yr old bodybuilder, Sonny Bryant reminds Dburt that it's time for Operation:Rebirth and our thoughts on the N-word being used on the front page of an Egyptian newspaper.
