We Feed the Homeless Philly Community Activist Craig Stroman and Urban Therapy with SUN are coming together on this show to try to unravel the violence that is so pervasive in our society today. You have to admit that things are pretty ridiculous right now when we consider the stories of so many unarmed Black men being killed by our police forces in different parts of the country. Yeah and it does seem to be a Black thing once again. This is not a new problem and even more unfortunate is that it's something that we are seeming to get used to. This is unacceptable. Something has to be done about the people that our tax dollars pay to protect and serve but who are becoming the criminals themselves. As crazy as it sounds, the cops are now the ones making the news for robbing, raping and murder. Really? Not acceptable. We need to holla at y'all about this.
Our youth seem to be out of control. Our adults seem to be out of control. Our gangs have never been under our control but how much longer can we afford to look the other way about our counter-cultures and expect anything to improve?
We seem to settling our differences with weapons more and more and who do we have to blame for this? Is it our government agencies that give us access to the weapons? Would eliminating the weapons stop the violence anyway?
Is it the media that glorifies the eye for an eye ideology to blame for all this violence? Can we blame the media for everything? What is our individual role in all of this and what can we do to help?
Are y'all ready for this one? Are you sure?........ Could the things that we are eating be part of the reason for all the violence that we are being exposed to? Sit on that one for a minute.
Tune in and join me as I welcome this week's guest.
Author Caroline de Chavigny joins me on the Indie Books Show this week to talk about her book: When Angels Die.
July, 1993, a young, single mother became the target of a sadistic rapist. Her world was instantly turned upside down as she was viciously assaulted and left for dead in front of her young children. This story takes you from a broken, shattered life and details how she was able to rebuild her world, while dealing with nightmares and flashbacks, mind-numbing fear, pain, the burning, boiling anger and an intense hatred. This book portrays living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, attempted suicides, and finally, the steps taken and the therapy that saved an entire family. When Angels Die was originally written as a form of self-help therapy. And now, it is dedicated to those who need help and guidance in making the emotional transition from being a Crime Victim to being a Survivor. The time is now to let go of your fears and to regain control of your lives.
Tune in live Friday at 11AM EST and call in or chat to join the discussion or listen to the archive.

Today's show revovles around Urban Game Changers Florida and the missing piece of the Republican/Conservtive puzzle to the urban community, school choice. School just started here in Florida and the conversations are about what is a successful school and how can those in the urban community avial their children of successful schools.
Republican strategy has so far ignored this subject as it relates to those in the urban community. Today we open the eyes of many and offer a real urban talking point.

Authors on the Air Host Pam Stack welcomes crime fiction author Karma Small Bodman. Karna's newest book "Castle Bravo" is on shelves now! Karna had this to say to fans: In each of my thrillers, I focus on a different threat to our national security – but not in a “preachy” way, I want my readers to enjoy a story while also “getting the message” about an important issue – and then, hopefully spread the word that this is something that needs our attention.
