The film follows a proposed uranium mill in southwestern Colorado—the first to be built in the U.S. in 30 years—and the emotional debate pitting a population desperate for jobs and financial stability against an environmental group based in nearby a resort town. Without judgement, both sides of the issue are brought to life in heart-wrenching de- tail as the film follows conflicting opinions and visions for the future.
What do you do when your community is dying from lack of funds...is it worth dying from a cancer-causing uranium mill? What is the cost of life in these United States?

From the film:
"I want them to understand that there's people here."
"yeah, but I don't think they care about us people. I mean there's no compromise--they don't care about us!"
"Nuclear Power was supposed to be our future. Al lot of this town is here because of Union Carbide and then when they left we're still here! They're long gone now "
"If you're only hearing the piece about jobs, you're not protecting the community. I dare you do better"
"The people complaining the most are driving to the protest in their Mercedes. You can only kick a dog so many times and pretty soon he's going to turn around and bite you."
"I have pulmonary fibrosis"
"I lost a father and two brothers from lung cancer. They all worked in the mines. My dad and my younger brother both died at the age of 48, but the way I feel it was...their time to go."

Urban fiction author and children's writer Niki Jilvontae talks candidly about how hard living in her youth in the southern city nicknamed First 48, Memphis, TN has impacted her writing. Niki credits a family member as the force behind her drive to write, teaching Niki, how words can heal when your environment is hurting you. Niki Jilvontae takes her writing into the pain of urban life and shows how misguidance can take you into the most dangerous places in her book, A Long Way From Home. An advocate for autism, she applies her experiences to fiction for children.
Barack Obama's executive order on immigration represents the most serious constitutional crisis since Watergate. Never before has a president shown such open contempt for Congress and the separate branches of government. Once the public would expect humility from a president whose party was destroyed in the recent mid-term elections. Instead we get unconstitutional overreach. That Obama is a Machiavellian power grabber with a hard-left agenda is a given. The question is, what will a divided GOP on Capitol Hill do about it?
Thus Sunday, November 23rd, at 7:00 PM, E.S.T., it's Real Talk. You, the listener, drive the topic and agenda. Just call in and change the subject to what you want to talk about; whatever it is... and there is no shortage of things to talk about:
Ebola.... Mid Term Elections... Republicans taking control of Congress... Police Violence on Minorities... The Michael Brown Case, Minority Participation in the Political Process... Mass Incarceration, Black-on-Black Crime and Violence, Gun Control, Drugs and Gangs, Corruption and Protesting in Mexico, Foreign Policy, Climate Change, Terrorism and as always, Male/Female Relationships. Also, Education, Parenting, Domestic and Child Abuse and all manner of Injustices across the nation and around the world. And there is so much more...
And we always encourage you to call in and recognize those who deserve recognition. Also, call in and let us know who needs help or assistance. Let us know how can we make a difference in someone's life.

Yvette W. Jones talks with Hassan Latif (Founder) and Sean Ahshee Taylor (Senior Case Manager) of Second Chance Center, Inc. as they share their story and how they are helping others stay out of prison.
Hassan A. Latif is the Founder and Executive Director of Second Chance Center, Inc. As a Certified Addictions Counselor he provides one on one and group counseling services throughout the Denver Metro area. A nationally certified Cognitive Behavior Change Facilitator(NCTI), he also directs the mentoring efforts of SCC, while returning to various Colorado Department of Corrections prisons, and local community corrections/half way house facilities, to offer the same supportive services.
After serving almost 18 consecutive years in Colorado penitentiaries, Hassan embarked on a career trying to help others avoid prison. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition, he helps to drive that organization’s mission to reverse the trend of mass incarceration in the State of Colorado.
Sean Ahshee Taylor, was born in Springfield Massachusetts but grew up primarily in Denver Colorado. In the late eighties, at the age of 17, Sean got himself into serious trouble and was sentenced to life in prison. Upon his incarceration he began a journey of bettering himself. After serving 22 years within the Department of Corrections the outgoing Governor, Bill Ritter Jr., commuted Sean’s life sentence and he was released from prison. This former Gang Banger and Lifer is now a Case Manager, Mentor and Certified Fitness Instructor for the Second Chance Center. He is making the most of his second chance while doing his best to show others how to do the same.
