Episode 24: Special Guest: Mr. Jonathan K. Osborne, Esq.

    in Lifestyle

This week our Special Guest is Mr. Jonathan K. Osborne, Esq. The topic we will be discussing this week is educational and professional goal-setting, geared mainly towards young men.  The question we will be answering is “What happens when determination, focus, and patience meet academic success?"

Mr. Osborne was recently sworn in as an Assistant United States Attorney for the US Dept. of Justice for the Southern District of Florida.  At a very early age, he learned from his grandparents to chase his dreams.  A Miami Gardens, FL native, his dreams carried him through middle and high school and then to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he joined the Runnin' Rebels basketball team at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas (UNLV).  After 3 years at UNLV, Mr. Osborne transferred to the University of Alaska.  He then attended Georgetown Law school, before working for three years as a business litigation attorney at Gunster Law Firm.  He now represents the United States on behalf of the Justice Department.  He has committed his life to serving others.

Mr. Osborne could not achieve such goals and dreams without staying focused with a vision for success.  While serving clients as an attorney and in his church and community, he still finds time for the sport he loves, basketball.  Therefore, there is nothing wrong with wanting to be an athlete, but you should always have a vision for your life after sports.  This is a message that every young person should hear, especially young men.  With vision, a strategic plan, and a sense of humor, anything is possible.

Week 7 Mountain West football recap

    in Sports

Jeremy and Chris are back to breakdown a crazy Week 7 of Mountain West play which saw a pair of shocking upsets. The action got going Friday night with UNLV upsetting Fresno State in overtime and then San Diego State doing all they can to give the game up to New Mexico with four straight turnovers in the four quarter.

Utah State proved to once again being a very dominant team by beating Air Force and Nevada can still not play complete game in its loss to Colorado State. We both wonder if Boise State's loss to Air Force and Colorado State's loss to Boise State were more of a one-off game than the norm for these teams. Yet, nothing has been the norm for the Mountain West this year.

Mountain West football Week 4 recap

    in Sports

Week 4 is finally in the books and the Mountain West looked just OK from some teams, others looked really good and a few were down right stinkers. Per usual, we go through each game to talk about what we say, and one trend we saw was the excess of quarterback play.

San Jose State, UNLV, Hawaii and New Mexico all used multiple quarterbacks on Saturday and not to shock anyone, and all but New Mexico lost their game.

We get into the San Diego State vs. Oregon State game and put away the notion that some Aztecs fans want to bench Quinn Kaehler. There were issues on offense and play calling but part of that has to do with wide receiver Ezell Ruffin out, but the San Diego State defense did a great job against Sean Mannion.

We probably spend a bit too much time going over Boise State and fawning over how they are the best team -- they really are -- and see what teams they can lose going forward on its schedule, and there are a few.
