    The United States of Propaganda

    in Entertainment

Propaganda: ideas or statements that are often false or exaggerated and that are spread in order to help a cause, a political leader, a government, etc.

I often hear people say, Why are they always protesting? or, If they would only listen to the police they wouldn't get shot. Propaganda is used to make the perpetrator look like the victim, and the victim look like the perpetrator. Learn to know propaganda when you see or hear it.

Join Zaiyah and Uptown as they discuss this and other important topics on this weeks edition of Zaiyah's House.

Animals & the Spiritual Imagination w/Sabina Magliocco

    in Spirituality

Our interview tonight:  Animals and the Spiritual Imagination with Dr. Sabina Magliocco, PhD,  Professor of Anthropology at California State University, Northridge, CA.  Throughout history and in many different cultures, animals have been imagined as totems, spirit guides, divine messengers, even goddesses and gods.  But how do we imagine our spiritual relationship to other animals today? My work explores this question by examining both mainstream cultural and religious practices and those of contemporary Pagans, a group of religions that revive some practices of pre-Christian cultures, finding surprising confluences between the two.  My conclusion is that as animals, especially domestic ones, are increasingly granted a place in our family lives, their role in our spiritual imagination is also shifting.  And given the danger to all living species on our planet today, that could be a very good thing.

Dr. Magliocco, a recipient of Guggenheim, National Endowment for the Humanities, Fulbright and Hewlett fellowships, and an honorary Fellow of the American Folklore Society,  has published on religion, folklore, foodways, festival and witchcraft in Europe and the United States, and is a leading authority on the modern Pagan movement. She is the author of numerous books and articles, including The Two Madonnas: the Politics of Festival in a Sardinian Community (1993, 2005), Witching Culture: Folklore and Neo-Paganism in America (2004), Neopagan Sacred Art & Altars: Making Things Whole (2001), and with filmmaker John M. Bishop produced the documentary film series “Oss Tales,” on a May Day custom in Cornwall and its reclamation by American Pagans.  Her current research is on animals in the spiritual imagination

Fighting Gravity: The Undeniable Truth: Featuring Pinocchio

    in Poetry

    Fighting Gravity:
Stop the fighting and enjoy flight and embrace the reality of life.
Reaching each mind and Teaching each mind to REACH and TEACH others to REACH and TEACH ONE ANOTHER. Reaching out to those who want to join in the effort to affect the mind of the masses lifting the weight of Gr...avity.

A vehicle for progress. If anything holds you down ,let it go,and rise. That means "Anything".
If something or someone is the catalyst of you not getting to your destination; Let it go... Its like; two heads of cattle in a yoke, and one is walking and the other is standing still. What is happening? The team is going in circles, not getting anywhere.

Empowerment and Enabling,Keys for Construction and Destruction... Lets talk about it

Releasing the dead weight = The sky is only the base of how far you can actually go.

    in Paranormal

Kristina Rake is a deacon of the United States Old Catholic Church. She received her Master’s Degree in Theology from the prestigious Andover Newton Theological Seminary near Boston and has been teaching scripture, theology, and apologetics to adults for over 15 years. In her own search for the Christianity taught by the Apostles, she found the Catholic Church and converted in 1999 after attending seminary for one year. She became Director of Adult Formation for a Suburban Chicago Parish of over 15,000 people. Deacon was in charge of all adult programming at the church, from adult education series to retreats and community events.

One of Deacon’s responsibilities was the R.C.I.A. program in which adults seek to convert to Catholicism. Here, Deacon Rake worked with people from all religious backgrounds: from Jewish converts to atheists to evangelicals to Mainline Protestantism to no religious background at all. Her experiences teaching Catholic Theology to people from such diverse religious backgrounds grounded her firmly in Catholic Apologetics. Deacon Rake was asked by groups all over her diocese to speak on a variety of apologetics topics and, for 15 years, she taught theology, scripture, and apologetics in area parishes.

In 2014, Deacon Rake entered the United States Old Catholic Church under Archbishop James Long. She was ordained a Deacon on November 8th, 2014, and continues her studies and formation for the Old Catholic Priesthood. She lives in Chicago with her husband of 15 years, Mark, her two human children and her two furry Chihuahua boys

THE ROAD HAWGS RADIO NETWORK - CLASSIC CHROME With PANHEAD JIM'S 1933 HARLEY VL

Special Guests: “Panhead Jim” Mahaney, Historian, Blogger and Vintage Enthusiast

Ever since the widespread introduction of automobiles and motorcycles, their owners have set out to see the world around them from behind the controls. The early days saw most enthusiasts trying to cross the United States from coast-to-coast; not an easy task when the majority of the country was still unpopulated and lacking proper roads. These trips were often treacherous and long, but still the popularity grew. Today, the thought of touring the country is still exciting, but is nowhere near as treacherous. Cross-country trips today are usually done from the comfort of a climate controlled auto or large touring motorcycle. But, this week on Classic Chrome, we are joined by an old bike enthusiast who is setting out on his own to prove that old machines can still reliably make the journey. “Panhead Jim” Mahaney, who lives in North Carolina, is well-known for his antique motorcycle blog “Riding Vintage”. Jim is also a contributor to numerous magazines, such as American Iron, and has ridden many thousands of miles on old machines. Currently, Jim is in the process of building a 1933 Harley Davidson VL which he will be riding solo across the United States from California to North Carolina.
