Intentional Peer Support Responds to AOT/ Forced Psychiatry! Chris Hansen, Director of Intentional Peer Support, describes a principled, relational alternative to forced psychiatric interventions like AOT (Assisted Outpatient Treatment). Chris has been promoting, developing and training peers worldwide in Intentional Peer Support for a decade. She has assisted the development of numerous peer-run crisis respites in a number of countries. Before her work in Intentional Peer Support, Chris served as an advisor to New Zealand mental health services and on the board for the World Network of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry. She was a member of the New Zealand delegation to the United Nations to develop the Convention for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In this episode, Chris describes what Intentional Peer Support is and how it came to be developed as an alternative to force and coercion in mental health. She shares her experience (both lived and work-related) of how and why forced treatments (like AOT) are damaging. Shel explains why many people believe that alternatives need to be happening, what some of these alternatives are, and how they might come to be more broadly available to people who want them. Wake Up Everybody! Tonight's episode is "Unity in the Community", a conversation on youth gun violence with guests Sean Pryor, Founder of Guns Down and Andre T. Mitchell, Founder/Executive Director of Man Up! Inc.
It is no secret that there is a crisis of youth gun violence in our communities across this country. On average, 33,000 Americans are killed with guns each year, and the burden of this violence falls disproportionately on young people: 54 percent of people murdered with guns in 2010 were under the age of 30.
What can we do about it? Who should we hold accountable? What are some solutions and strategies to prevent gun violence and the destruction of our communities? How can we become a part of the solution instead of sitting on the sidelines complaining and being only a part of the problem? How do we call for unity in the community on this issue?

Economic, Geopolitical, Cultural, & Prophetic news like you've never heard !
So here's a novel idea: we're podcasting after an Aston Villa win. Yes, that's right. And what's more, it's a win in the Premier League. We haven't gotten to do a podcast like that in nearly three months, so you can imagine how excited we are.
We begin, of course, by recounting the thrilling win over West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday. There is no shortage of gloating over the win, and especially the gut-punching manner in which it happened. After that we take on all sorts of Aston Villa news: the return of Stiliyan Petrov, the defensive injury crisis, and more.
And how can we leave you except by looking ahead to Saturday's FA Cup quarter final clash against the Baggies?

Rape, both in the military and in the civilian world, is a very serious problem that has yet to be moved into a progressive priority slot in the government's ladder of priorities. Despite a plethora of "new" outreach programs, outcry protests, petitions, news reports and "amended protective laws" for victims, the number of rapes and other sexual crimes continue to rise. Is it possible that these crimes are on the rise because a sexually-based offense is not truly considered a crime of priority, or even a crime at all? Television shows such as Scandal, Revenge and Empire portray power as a must-have at any cost, and sex is the most effective bargaining chip--while cases such as that of the late PFC Lavena Johnson demonstrates the viewpoint of the government that rape in the military is to be swept aside in order to protect the "bigger picture", or the honor/reputation of the delgates of the world. Do the widespread projections of hypersexualized media content and the lax approach to reported sex crimes contribute to the obliterating rape crisis in our country? Dear Leader Barack Hussein Obama thinks it's permissible to rewrite federal statutes, like immigration laws and ObamaCare's employer mandate and signup deadlines. Example: Regarding laws governing U.S. immigration policy, when Obama signed the executive amnesty order barring prosecution (and subsequent deportation) of something like 4 million illegal immigrants, he said "I just took an action to change the law." He was never concerned that his action was illegal. He just saw 4 million Democrat voters.
Obama's rationale for unilaterally changing the immigration law: the fact that Congress was hopelessly gridlocked on immigration issues and wouldn't pass laws he favored, the intolerable legal limbo that illegal aliens found themselves in, and that a crisis existed that demanded that he act, that he sign an executive order. The fact that the aliens were (by current law) illegal never was a consideration for him. It was just crucially important that he immediately act unilaterally. So he did.

This episode of Pneumatikos will explore the work of the Spirit of God in using formidable persons for prophetic ministry. The dimension of prophetic ministry defines the effectiveness of ministry practice. Ministry without a prophetic dimension cannot answer the Divine Imperative. The Spirit of God creates the milieu of Grace servanthood within the hearts of those whose very lives are an answering apologetic to honest theological queries of our Faith. Nehemiah was a formidable person who let God use him in a time of great spiritual crisis.
