Third Eye Cinema 4/21/13 with Udo Dirkschneider

    in Entertainment

This week on Third Eye Cinema: one of our proudest musical moments, as we feature a living legend! With roots in the metal scene going back to the late 1970s, he fronted one of the premier bands of German metal, the mighty Accept!  With his throaty, glass gargling yet powerful vocals shoring up Wolf Hoffman's neoclassically based compositions, he helped put Accept at the very top echelons of traditional heavy metal!  After delivering 7 molten slabs of unforgettable and still influential anthems (including such classic platters as Restless and Wild, Balls to the Wall and Metal Heart), he broke off to begin his own equally hard hitting, stubbornly and persistently traditional metal band U.D.O., despite and throughout the musical nadir of the 1990s, where such sorry substitutes as grunge, hip hop and "alternative" dominated the airwaves and practically demonized the sound worldwide. With such anthemic, unwaveringly 80's style albums as Animal House, Holy, and Mission No. X, he stayed true to his roots and delivering the goods for over 35 years, as shown in dramatic relief on the recent Live in Sofia, whose contents span his entire career with both bands! On the cusp of releasing his 14th album with U.D.O., Steelhammer, please join us for an entertaining and often revelatory career-spanning interview with the one and only Udo Dirkschneider, only here on Third Eye Cinema!Week 47 (Sun. Apr. 21) - Udo Dirkschneiderhttp://thirdeyecinema.wordpress.com/http://www.facebook.com/ThirdEyeCinema

Okokon Udo, A Blogger's Voice: Can You Hear the Cries?

    in Culture

Okokon Udo's blog begins: Can you hear the cries? Have you tapped into the global channel lately? Are you listening to what is happening? What an intense last couple of months, no, years, we have had. I have been holding my breath, hurting on the inside, sourcing, praying, wishing and hoping. I have been hoping that the level of polarization and extremism that is showing up in national and global discourse can be noticed. And that the awareness can provide us with data. Data about how we suddenly forget to celebrate what’s right with the world and resort to behaviors that are demeaning, marginalizing and plain destructive. And how in that space, boxes suddenly emerge. We become US and they become THEM. And the lines get drawn. And THEY cease to be human. And they become objects (aka enemies). And WE become justified in pointing (words, guns, pens, energy) at them and killing or destroying them, literally and figuratively.

Host Linda Lombardo and guest Okokon Udo talk about the lines of separation. Okokon is a global leadership consultant, facilitator and coach, and founder and president of Distinctive Leader Options, Inc.

The Unmasking of Okokon Udo: For Anyone Who Has Ever Lost Their Voice

    in Culture

This is the story of the evolution into the person who is Okokon Udo. It is a story about the pain, the struggle and the triumph he has gone through. In that context, it mirrors the story of everyone who has ever lost their voice, been spoken for or been marginalized by another person or group.

During his show, the Unmasking of Okokon Udo, he takes you a long on my personal, painful and yet freeing story: the story of a Nigerian man, living in America and discovering himself, his history and his core through deep process work.

This work is the expression of his emergence from the rubble of internalized oppression  into the person, man and global citizen that he is today.
