Until I married my neurosurgeon husband, Dr. Bob Fink, I knew nothing about brain tumors, particularly those afflicting children. Brain tumors can be malignant, or not. But because they occur in the brain—our control center—they can have lasting and devastating effects on people. Parenting is challenging enough. What impact does it have on parents and families for a child to develop a brain tumor? To help us understand, we have invited Stacia Wagner, Director of Survivor Programs for the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation, to talk with us about this life-altering challenge. May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month. Click to visit the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation website.
Since Nov. 2010, my heart has been aching for the veterans because they are not receiving the RESPECT, HEALTHCARE, & TREATMENT that they are ENTITLED TO. I learned the awful truth while researching for an answer to my question: Why were my family & I in this “secret” human subject research for the rest of our lives? There was nothing I could do. I hired Prophet Jeanne S. to save my life. I was secretly dying unbeknownst to my family & friends. I even had a dream about my funeral. Jeanne S. told me that unscrupulous U.S. Federal employees were abusing their power were doing this to us. THEY ARE DOING IT BECAUSE THEY CAN & WHO IS GOING TO STOP THEM? I was angry. These people were trying to kill & destroy us. Since they could not get to me, first they went after my mother and then my then 5 year old nephew who they intentionally gave the SWINE FLU to. 18,000 people DIED from the SWINE FLU. I knew that the enemy wanted me dead like they wantedDonnie McClurkin dead. I have been messing up their plans with him. I have been in a fight for our lives. No one is going to change my calling or my future. Why aren't we the American people fighting for the veterans? The U.S. Federal Government should be helping them. PERIOD.This is what the rogue Military & Industry have been doing since the Cold War. Microwave Expert, Dr. Barrie Trower said “The problem we have here today is that under direction of the U.S. Government. In 1976, most of the western countries, Australian, Britain, Canada, and the U.S., they were all advised to keep everything to keep it a secret so that the Military & the Industry could be protected. They could protect their profit margin and if the people in the Military knew that the equipment they were using could give them tumors, then they could start law suits. So the advice in 1976 from the American Government was not to tell people the truth. Keep it secret.” Visit www.ManifestTheTruth.com

While an Air Force Reservist at Moody AFB, Jan was called in to discuss the results of her physical exam. Discovered were carcinoid tumors found in Jan's digestive tract and she was diagnosed with gastric cancer. Jan would go on to have a full gastrectomy on October 20, 2010 to remove her stomach and has since been cancer free. As a teenager Jan was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and this likely predisposed her to the gastric cancer. She recently celebrated being cancer free for five years!!! and attributes her tenacity and strength to her faith which brings assurance that all things will continue to work out for her good. This is definitely a conversation worth listening to.

Hair Relaxers are used by millions of black women, this treatment exposes women to chemicals through scalp lesions and burns. Several studies have proven that hair relaxer use increases uterine leiomyomata risk.
Ingredients used in relaxers are "lye" relaxers is sodium hydroxide; no-lye relaxers contain calcium hydroxide and guanidine carbonate, and "thio" relaxers contain thioglycolic acid salts.
Uterine leiomyomata are tumors of the myometrium that are responsive to estrogens and progesterone. Although benign, uterine leiomyomata are associated with signifigant morbidity and are leading indication for hysterectomy in the US.
According to the National Cancer Institute, more than 23,000 new cases of brain cancer were diagnosed in the U.S. last year. Of those, about one-third were gliomas ... a type of brain cancer that's particularly hard to treat. On this week's program, Dr. Robert Jenkins, a pathologist and specialist in laboratory genetics, explains new research that may lead to […]
Deb Maskens was diagnosed at the age of 14 with papillary renal cell carcinoma. Now with adult children of her own, she has been living most of her life on one clinical trial or another, working to control the growth of tumors and to maintain her quality of life. She helped to form Kidney Cancer Canada, and the International Kidney Cancer Coalition (IKCC), sharing her experience and knowledge with other kidney cancer patients around the world.
In September 2015 she attended the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) meeting in Vienna and filed this report, which Joyce and Robin will be discussing with her.
In addition, she is part of a team at the International Kidney Cancer Coalition which has recently opened an informational website on Immuno-Oncology. Hopes are high for this new angle on controlling cancer, but how much of the hype is yet real?

Oftentimes when we think of health, we don't focus on our nervous system health. It's only when we see ourselves or our loved ones suffer disorders such as tumors, Alzheimers, autoimmune disorders, or epilepsy that we then begin to look for ways that we can support our nervous system.
But it's never too early or too late to support your nervous system. I have invited a very special guest on this episode, Quila Rider R.N. C.N.M., Ac, Ph.D, founder of Alliance of Complementary Therapeutics. Dr. Rider will share with us some techniques on how to use all-natural LifeWave acupuncture patches to support your nervous system health. Join us to learn:
Several simple, yet powerful step by step procedures to use these patches to help support your nervous system (and what benefits you can expect right away).
How these patching sequences helped one man with dysfunction in his central nervous systems to get completely off his medications!
What clinical studies reveal about LifeWave's ability to balance your autonomic nervous system within just 10 minutes of patch application.
Give us a call at the number above to have your questions answered!
(Be sure to share this episode with someone else who cares about their nervous system health).
Any type of abnormal brain function is a brain injury. PTSD, multiple sclerosis, hydrocephalus, strokes, tumors, anoxia, neuromuscular disorders such as transverse myelitis, Guillain-Barre Syndrome or related neurologic conditions are all types of brain injuries of different kinds, along with traumatic brain injuries.
We need to educate the public, doctors, familes and survivors what these disabilites are. They are often misinterpreted and misdiagnosed because individuals are judged upon instead of understanding.
We need to educate survivors how to accept who they are now.
We need to motivate survivors, caregivers and family members to not give up and how we can all progress.

Cassey Blumenthal has Neurofibromatosis Type 1 as well as dyslexia which is common with NF. She was diagnosed at age 7 and currently there is no cure for neurofibromatosis.
Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that disturbs cell growth in the nervous system, causing tumors to form on nerve tissue. These tumors may develop anywhere in your nervous system, including in your brain, spinal cord and nerves. Neurofibromatosis is usually diagnosed in childhood or early adulthood. Dr Frederick Covington will join us to discuss therapies and assistive technology that he is creating. www.askdrcovington.com
The tumors are usually (benign), but in some cases these tumors become cancerous. Effects of neurofibromatosis can range from hearing loss, learning impairment, and heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) complications to severe disability due to nerve compression by tumors, loss of vision and severe pain. Learn more about this disease that inflicts about 1 in 3000 people.
This show is a gathering place for anyone seeking recovery from the challenges of life on life's terms. We discuss useful tools that have helped us lighten the load, of our journey through recovery. This is a "we" recovery program, because it is in the "we," that we find the new "me."

The front half of show is a featured guest. to join us in the discussion. The second part of the show is Open Mic and some great Indy Music, sure to inspire! Brain Injury Radio Network does not only apply to survivors of brain injuries. Caregivers, family members, loved ones, medical professionals, advocates who want to make changes happen for survivors and the generally public who want to learn how to help others in need.
Who decides when outpatient care is no longer needed, how an individual can not get any better, or when limitations run out? Many insurance companies cut off care for outpatient care after a limited amount of time.
There are many struggles that occur for anyone involved in the financial side of occurance after a brain injury. Unless there is a substantial lawsuit which takes place after, the largest battle aside from the recovery process is how are needs going to be met. For caregivers, when your life is put on hold to now cover the expenses for someone else aside from trying to take care of yourself or children in a family, now you may have an adult who can not manage these tasks on their own any longer. Unfortunately, home health aides are not in any position to take care of these personal needs. Who represents the injured?
For a survivor, are handling financial tasks too much? Has your cognitive development had an impact on stress, money, relationships they can now trust in their lives and how things will be taken care of? What happens if an individual hasn't been so blessed to finally get approved for SSDI? Who represents the survivors after family has given up their relationships with the survivors? When disability insurance only covers 80% of medical costs (if any) how does a disabled individual know how to get supplemental insurance? How much does the brain injury community know where to go and who to talk to in each state or even locally in their area?
