ENVISION THIS...The fulfillment in December 2012 of two ancient prophesies from opposite sides of the globe.
Kymberlee Ruff has been commissioned by a Tibetan leader, Venerable Bhaku Tulku Rinpoche, and a Hopi elder, Grandfather Martin Gashwieseom, to be the messenger of the Hopi/Tipetan Prophecy. Astounded to discover almost identical language and messages in ancient prophecies of two such disparate cultures, Kymberlee has agreed to be a messenger of the compassion that both prophecies foretell as unfolding in December 2012.
Our questions are framed around the rather amazing story Kymberlee has told us. We leave it up to out listeners to intuit the validity of her story which certainly meshes with other prophecies foreseeing a Shift, Turning, or New Age unfolding. The underlying call to compassion is compelling, even for those of our listeners who remain skeptical.
Burl and Merry believe that stories convey the deepest of truths. Because Kymberlee's story, like most good stories, contains the basic Truths of what humanity is meant to be, we are happy to bring her vision to our listeners.

Lama Rangbar commenced his spiritual training as a martial artist at the age 18 under the guidance of Suhu Subur Rahardja a holder of the Northern Shao Lin White Crane tradition from Indonesia. Suhu as he was known as by his disciples, also held other native spiritual lineages from Java, Bali and Lombok as well as several hidden esoteric practices from Guru Padmasambhava of Tibet. Lama Rangbar started his training in the martial arts inheriting many animal and deity movement, breathing systems and sparring.  He subsequently met His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche in 1981 and studied under His Holiness and several other highly regarded Nyingmapa masters until the present day.

Lama moved to Nepal in 1990 where he lived, worked and practiced for around 20 years. Lama holds the Dudjom Tersar lineage of Vajrayana Buddhism, developing his practice over the past 30 years. Lama teaches on several topics from both of his lineages including Anu Yoga and great perfection (Dzog Chen) teachings.

In 2004, Lama was recognized by Tsewang Ngodrup Rinpoche from Kham Riwoche Tibet, the activity emanation of Tulku Chimed Yugyal the ritual meditation master of Ogmin Ling Dzogchen Monastery in that same region. Lama is well known for his integration of these sciences into daily life and for his fresh teaching style which is well tailored to modern western audiences, yet solidly based on the unerring authenticity of the ancient school.

Lama has recently returned to the USA in order to establish one of the most critical monumental peace projects of our times, The Maha Bodhivastu and the Universal Heart Support Stupa. This project is a culmination of Lama's experiences and pursuits as it relates to enlightenment for all beings.

Through the eyes of a modern Buddhist monk

    in Current Events

This afternoon we will be looking at the peculiar nature of living a religious life in the 21st century through the eyes of an American Buddhist monk. Tibetan Buddhism blasted onto the world stage after the 1959 uprising against the Chinese occupation. Ever since this mystical tradition has been capturing the hearts and minds of millions of westerners.

Joining us today is Palzang. He was born in Rockford, Illinois, and later attended Rockford College where he received a BA in Zoology and later an MS in Cell Biology from the University of Chicago. In the time between the two degrees he spent 4 years in the Air Force as a Russian linguist, during his tours of duty he was stationed in Japan, which is where he first became interested in Buddhism. His pursued his interest more deeply when he returned to the US and eventually began following the teachings of His Holiness Khenpo Jigme Puntsok Rinpoche in July 1993 and took full ordination as a gelong (bhikkshu) monk in 1995 from His Holiness Pema Norbu Rinpoche, thus, making him a monk for nearly 16 years.

The center at which Palzang practices, Kunzang Palyul Choling, or KPC, is located in Poolesville, Maryland and was started by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo, the first western woman to ever be recognized as a tulku, or reincarnated lama. She started KPC in 1985 as a World Prayer Center, and it has been involved in a continuous 24 hour prayer cycle ever since. KPC has a strong ordained presence with about 40 monks and nuns in Maryland, Arizona, Australia, and Mongolia. KPC is a Tibetan Buddhist (or Vajrayana) temple in the Palyul lineage of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism founded by Padmasambhava, or Guru Rinpoche, in about the 7th century C.E. It should be noted that Jetsunma is an American woman, and that she never received any instruction in Buddhism. She simply teaches from her mind.
