Food or Fiction: The Truth about Health with Amanda Morgan

    in Health

On this episode of The Period Party, Nat & Nicole talk with Amanda Morgan, a rebel nutritionist and creator of the Food or Fiction Program, a 4-week group coaching program designed to help women learn the truth about their favorite foods and start eating healthy on their own terms.

Here are the highlights of what we cover during this episode:

The misguided desire for women to want to associate with a diet label rather than understanding what true health means for them.
Placing foods on “nice” and “naughty” lists and what this does to our mental health (both in terms of diet labels and food itself).
Where the “food or fiction” concept came from and why it’s important to embrace the “f*ck it” mindset and not listen to anyone else but your own intuition.
Why everyone and their mother should be angry with how inappropriate and deceptive food marketing has become and why it’s important to educate yourself.
The future of the diet industry.

Amanda is not afraid to speak her mind about today’s most controversial nutrition topics, and has been praised by blogs such as MindBodyGreen, The Daily Meal, and SheKnows Media for her unique spin on healthy living. She believes that health has nothing to do with diets, and instead places emphasis on happiness, fulfillment, and fun. REAL FOOD with Chef Val

    in Food

Look, it's a bird, it's a plane, No, it's super radish, daikon! With all its incredible healing properties and health benefits, it is definitely a super food! A long, thick, white vegetable, looks like a large carrot, that most people have seen but are afraid to use, is daikon. It is in the radish family, but the taste is not as strong as the small, red, round, very pungent ones most people recognize. I, myself, am not a fan of the small red ones, but I love daikon. When you put this power packed vegetable in stews and soups it cooks up to be sweet in taste. Listen as I share, LIVE on air, the history of this Daikon and my Naturally Fermented Daikon Pickles on this episode of REAL FOOD with Chef Val.

    Common Questions About Pet Loss

    in Pets

Below are some of the most frequent questions we get at www.deathofmypet.com    We will go over the answers to these questions about pet loss and how it affects those of us who are are suffering.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PET LOSS

& THE GRIEF OF LOSING A BEST FRIEND.

How is it possible that I am sadder with the loss of my dog than with the loss of close family members?

For many people the love and companionship of a pet may be the only or certainly the strongest bond of unconditional love they have experienced.  It is also possible, like many of my clients, which you have been strong and practical while caring for ailing parents or friends.  But suddenly, your best friend and closest companion is dying and it is the last straw on a pile of buried emotions. It may be that your pet was your “safe place to go and soft spot to land.”

    2. I feel like I am going crazy. Am I ever going to feel normal again?

Yes, you will feel emotionally better but different than before.  You will eventually remember and rejoice in the many happy times you had with your pet.  You will be able to reflect on the many life lessons you shared.

    3. How long will I grieve my pet?

All of our emotions are individual.  When we love deeply, we grieve deeply.  Grief coaches often say that it takes about a year before your loss is the first thing you think of in the morning and the last thing you think about at night.
