Truck drivers have been saying for years that, "We need more truck parking" but it seems that it took an article in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) to get the much needed attention of the general public.
Join us with our special guest Dave Della Maggiore, a 20 year veteran driver as he shares his interview by WSJ journalist Betsy Morris from the report entitled: Too Many Trucks,Too Little Parking. Dave will also share his thoughts about the trip with WSJ photographers and his encounter with a tired trucker at a truck stop in Clines Corners, New Mexico.
Dave and fiancée, Robin, run their active Facebook group, Give Truckers Room, educating drivers of passenger vehicles how to drive safely around semi trucks.
Also joining us will be Nicholas Carretta, President and CEO of UltraShipTMS which specializes in transportation and technology solutions. UltraShipTMS quickly responded to the WSJ article and addressed the serious parking shortage in their own article, “Use YMS to Combat Truck Parking Crisis" which stated:
"Keeping drivers off of public streets, freeway ramps and vulnerable, remote parking places like abandoned lots is a laudable goal. It is also one that logistics as an industry is going to be forced to address."
Mr. Carretta will discuss the UltraYMS tool, allowing the logistics sector to take an active and responsible part in the truck parking shortage solution.
With the shortage of safe and secure parking for our nation's truck drivers back in the news, join us as we discuss the dangers drivers face every day because of the lack of safe truck parking availability.
Who is responsible for putting drivers at added risk? Where are the most difficult areas to find truck parking? How are regulations adding to the already dangerous parking situations? Who doesn't want to see more available truck parking?
Our guests include Hope Rivenburg of Jason's Law, Desiree Wood of Real Women in Trucking and our special guests, Ashley Boeglin and David Clark, wife and father-in-law of Michael Boeglin.
We will also review some startling results of the 2013 National Truck Parking Survey led by Hope and the detailed data analysis performed by Ms. Wood.
Join us for this very important broadcast.
We cover 2 topics in our discussion in the episode of the Women Truckers Network phone conference.
The Wall Street Journal Article on Truck Parking called "Too Many Trucks, Too Little Parking" PLUS Recent CDL Student Issues that Involve Schools Who May Be Taking Advantage of the Workforce Investment Act Voucher Grant without delivering training and other CDL Student questions and concerns.

Tonight is a very solemn topic for truckers, Suicide by Truck, discussing the horrible incidents of pedestrians and four-wheelers, who choose speeding trucks as an instrument of their suicide Although the subject matter is not uncommon among veteran drivers, it's not often a preferred topic of discussion in the chat rooms.
A truck driver whose truck has been randomly chosen as the means to anothers' end, may silently struggle for years with the horrific guilt and graphic memories of the incident.
Our guest tonight on AskTheTrucker Live is Carolyn Magner Mason, special contributor for Overdrive Magazine.
Carolyn has recently written the eerily popular “Suicide by Truck” 4 part series for Overdrive Magazine.
Video of 'Suicide by truck' on I-35E in Texas caught on owner-operator's dashcam.
Call in tonight and share your thoughts about this topic, whether it be an opinion, or your own personal experience or even near experience of "Suicide by Truck".
Downtown residents of Buffalo are feeling pushed-out more and more over the past few years, and most of this has to do with an initiative launched years ago that has little or nothing to do with them, but affects where they currently live and the future of Buffalo, NY.
What is taking place stands to be part of Buffalo's version of Gentrification called UB 2020 that is eating away at the rights of the immediate black community affecting it-also known as the Fruit Belt-and the latest issue regarding it is the practice of suburban employees who work downtown taking parking spaces in front of homes of residents. A bill that would create a parking permit system is currently having trouble going through.
Chris will once again interview Veronica Nichols who has been fighting for the residents of the Fruit Belt (where she resides) and nearby McCarley Gardens for the past several years.
According to a report by WGRZ TV: "The proposal would allow a program to be established along the most heavily impacted streets, including sections of Maple, Mulberry, Locust, Carlton and High streets. Residents would be issued permits to park and 20 percent of the spaces would still be available for non-residential parking.
Two On Your Side has obtained a document showing that CSEA does not support a permit program because employees have limited places to park.
Currently, 3,100 employees work at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and only 1,600 spaces are available. In the next five years, 17,000 people are expected to work at the medical campus."
"Truck Driver Health- The "best" health program for you is.... "
Thursday 6PM ET 347-826-917
As move forward with Driver Health discussions we realize more and more that there is no "one size fits all health program" . If you believe there is, you're setting yourself up for failure.
We can take in all the information we want, but the bottom line is we need to apply knowledge to our lives, and what works for John, may not work for Mary, and yet John and Mary are BOTH improving their health. How could that be?
Although than most people concerned about health will agree to avoid: processed foods, trans fats, GMO's, sugar, soda ,artificial ingredients and chemicals, pesticides, herbicides..... AND to increase organic food, water consumption, exercise,.... There still needs to be that all important consideration of the Person making the change.
So what diet is best? Here's a few choices : Paleo Diet, Vegan Diet, Vegetarian Diet, Raw Diet, Zone Diet, Atkins Diet... and the list goes on.
Join us tonight as Donna Smith of Trucking Social Media and Tom Kyrk of Road Tested Living discuss the absolute BEST health program for YOU... Call us and share how you either have achieved, or are in the process of achieving your goal towards PERSONALIZED optimal health.
Haven't Decided which health program is best for you?
We hope by the time the show is over tonight...... YOU"LL KNOW.

We all know that the Trucker Lifestyle drastically affects their Health, but what about how drivers are paid? Could that be weighing in on driver health also? Our guest tonight believes it does.
Our guest will be Pat Hockaday from TruckersUnited.org. Mr Hockaday is known for JoJo's Paper, an all-out crusade to change the way drivers are paid.
Pat will share some of his thoughts and solutions about driver wages, as well as discuss how trucking and the present trucker wage formula affects driver health.

Cup- Slugger Labbe new crew chief for Austin Dillon. Replaces Gil Martin. Dillon is 23rd in the points with just 1 top 10 finish. Has 2 wins in XFINITY in 11 starts this season. Thoughts?
Future crew chief changes? Chad Johnston, Jay Guy, Bob Osborne.
XFINITY- Erik Jones wins, nice weekend for the 19 year old driver. swept both the truck race at Iowa and the XFINITY Series race at Chicagoland. Jones is showing he is a top young driver in the sport right now.
Ryan Blaney finished 2nd. He was the fastest car there. Went from the rear of the field after crashing in happy hour and finished runner-up
Chris Buescher manages a decent finish. 5th spot, stayed out on a caution when NASCAR opened/closed pit road. Big benefit for him. Got track position, never gave it up.
Buescher now leads Ty Dillon by 29 points. Dillon finished 9th. Gotta do better in an X-Only race.
Lap 151- Dylan Lupton brings out caution and NASCAR race control calls Pit Road Open. The problem is the flag man either didn’t hear it or had a major brain fart and failed to make the light green coming down pit road. What happened was drivers went down pit road with the red light resulting in a penalty for those drivers. Craziness and sad we even had to deal with it.
Next Xfinity Series race- Daytona, after off weekend.
Trucks- Erik Jones wins as I mentioned before.
Brandon Jones finished in the 2nd, Reddick 3rd, Crafton 4th and Christopher Bell 5th.
Landon Cassill misses X race- good move?
Jamie Dick’s team closes down. Viva Motorsports- sign of things to come?
