Tonight we talk about Rick Perry's indictment for abuse of power filed by the liberal Texans for Public Justice. Rosemary Lehmberg, the district attorney of Travis County, was arrested for drunk driving and sentenced to 45 days in jail. Perry threatened the use of his line-item veto to remove the PIU’s state funding unless Ms Lehmberg stepped down. She didn't and he did. Was it an abuse of power?
On Episode 26, we continue our look ahead at the 2014 MAC Football season with some discussion of the Bowling Green Falcons. Pete Seymour joins Alex and Bryan as they revisit the magical ride that was 2013 and look ahead to what 2014 holds for the Falcons.
Bowling Green, thanks to the emergence of stud quarterback Matt Johnson and his running back partner in crime Travis Greene, rode their way to a MAC Championship in 2013, knocking off the 12th ranked NIU Huskies in Detroit rather handedly. But shortly after capturing the championship, fifth-year head coach Dave Clawson left for Wake Forest. Insert former Eastern Illinois head coach Dino Babers, and his Baylor offense, and suddenly BG looks like the offensive juggernaut of the mid-west. But no coaching change goes off 100 percent perfect, and with Chris Gallon likely out for the year, and some questions on the line, there's potential for some bumps in the road for BGSU this fall.
We open with cast from Multi-Ethnic Theatre's production of August Wilson's Jitney, running through August 31 at the Gough Street Playhouse, 1620 Gough Street (near Bush), in San Francisco. From www.wehavemet.org: "Some of the most talented Bay Area actors are people with day jobs who work in theater for sheer passion and true meaning. Jitney, set in the 'early fall of 1977,' in the Hill District in Pitsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a play about working class men, who provide 'transportation service' to their communities. Then and now, city cabs did not venture into certain communities. This play allows MET actors to bring their real life experience to the stage. The cast is a close knit group passionately dedicated to stories about an important public service: gypsy cab rides to and from African American communities." Joining us are: BENNIE LEWIS as Becker, a well respected man who runs the Jitney Station; VERNON MEDEARIS as Turnbo, a jitney driver who is always interested in the business of others; CHARLES JOHNSON as Doub, a longtime jitney driver and Korean war veteran; CHARLES JOHNSON as Doub, a longtime jitney driver and Korean war veteran; TREVOR LAWRENCE as Fielding, a jitney driver and former tailor with a dependency on alcohol; STUART ELWYN HALL as Shealy, a numbers taker who often uses the jitney station as his base; ANTHONY PRIDE, as Philmore, a hotel doorman and recurring jitney passenger; DAVID STEWART, Becker's son, recently released from prison.
We close with a show from the archives (4/3/14) which features Joanna Haigood and cast members, Antoine Hunter and Travis Santell Rowland, speaking about Haigood's piece Dying While Black and Brown.

84 has arrived and we are happy to fill the Metsian void with its presence this offday. The team overall has not done well of late and have brought themselves back to 8 games under 500 after failing to ever reach 3 under. They did have a nice but sloppy win out in Oakland yesterday to remind us of the promise this young team posesses. There is never a limit on the conversations that can be had about the NL New York, so get ready for some eloquent Metsian discourse.
Lucas Duda keeps rounding into 1st baseman form, Zack Wheeler gets better and better every 5 days, Travis d'Arnaud has looked like a legitamate catcher at the Major Leagues, the farm system is on fire, Eric Campbell combatted his first Major League slump, etc, etc. It's enough to make you forget we probably have one more year of Terryball before Wallyball :D
Anyway, make sure you join us at 8pm ET for the latest edition of the Rising Apple Report.
