What Do You Know About The Trans Saharan Slave Trade?
Why do we always talk about slavery as if it is a Black and White issue? The reality is that the Arabs have held Black slaves from around 800 AD to this very day, with no end in sight. This abuse of our people by the Arabs and Muslims is a well kept "secret" that must be exposed. How deep does this sickness run? Well, I don't know, but I do know that Arabs use a word "abd" to refer to Blacks, Africans, and slaves without distinction. In other words, if you are Black, they call you a slave.
Join Alex Primo and Asha Zuri Thursday, February 11 at 9 pm EST (6 pm PST, 7 pm MST, 8 pm CST) as we explore, dissect, and discuss the horror and devastating travesty that we call the Trans Saharan Slave Trade. A trade that caused the death of millions of our Melanated brothers and sisters. A despicable assault that castrated our brothers and turned our women into sex-slaves. You do not want to miss this episode.
Plus the brother Dennis Jefferson will be dropping by with another highly informative Healthy Matters update.

Deeply reported, beautifully written, and powerfully moving, Soldier Girls is “a breakthrough work...What Thorpe accomplishes in Soldier Girls is something far greater than describing the experience of women in the military. The book is a solid chunk of American history...Thorpe triumphs” (The New York Times Book Review).

In southern Dallas, Texas, Sunny Giovanni-- or "Gio" as she likes to be called-- was born on the fifth day of June in 1989. Born to a mother who was a teacher and a graduate from Texas A&M University you couldn't so much as watch a Disney movie if you hadn't read the book beforehand. Gio has had a very strong history with literature, diversifying from poetry (winning placements in oratorical contests), to thriller short stories as a way to vent her frustrations.
The pen was handed down to her from an older sibling as a means to focus her negative energy and anger into something different but was used as a way to alter her own situations.
As a preteen Gio witnessed how much her writing could touch someone when she left one of her prized spirals in a classroom without knowing. Two weeks after it went missing someone brought it back to her asking for more, letting the young author know that almost everyone she knew read the story, but without knowing it was her in the story she had written.
Sunny Giovanni is an advocate for gay and transgender rights, and says: "You can't help who you are and you damn sure can't help who you love. You should be true to who are rather than to conform and live the ultimate lie and live miserably until the day you die." Credited from the poem she penned "Titanium", modeled after her novel.
Gio is a mother of three children, the founder of Lucid Legends Publishing/ Photography, Kno Joke Entertainment, the host of "We Talk TOO Much Radio" on BlogTalk Radio and blogs on Tumblr under the name "KnoJokeGio". She is a friend to many and prides herself on making a smile out of an extremely horrible day. "It doesn't matter if you're having a bad day... a smile could make everything else seem so small. Crack a joke when someone is hurt and see how fast they cheer up.

the “black love” ideal is our fairy tale, as marriage and nuclear families are not commonplace. Little black girls are not much different from their white, Asian and Latina peers in that we, too, daydream of husbands and white picket fences. In my mind, black love is (and will always be) Cliff and Claire Huxtable—not for material reasons. It was great both were successful professionals, but even more noteworthy that their love transcended skin color. The Cosby Show wasn’t about a black couple and their family; it was a show about a loving couple and their children, all of whom happened to be black. Similarly, the Obamas (in real life) have managed to do the same thing. The foundation of their marriage is not blackness; it’s love and loyalty—which is essential regardless of race. Lets enjoy music, discussion and most of all LOVE!!
Konscious Vibe Host Melvin X lays out the details behind within the written history of Black people in America. In timeline fashion, the discussion will start with the Trans-Atlantic slave trade all the way to the modern psychology effects that slavery has on Black Americans today.
