Wine About Books with Celeste Celeste, author of Scratch

    in Entertainment

Celeste Celeste decided at a young age I was going to be a writer, but after an extended case of writers block, (it lasted about 8 years), I switched gears and High Maintenance was born in 2006, unfortunately she lived a very short life. She held onto her vision and never gave up on her dream to be an Author and to own her own brand.

After the unfortunate and untimely passing of her Mother, she realized how short life was and that it was time...time to live, time to make her dreams come true! put together a three year plan, in that time she obtained a college degree and relocated from New York to the Sunshine State in hopes of a fresh start, peace, tranquility and the opportunity to manifest her dreams once more into reality.

She is now a self published Author, working on her 3rd book!  She has written for and managed recording artists, written her own screenplay for a trailer that she also directed, styled and starred in for her new release SCRATCH...an erotic tale...

    in Prayer

You may have a right to your opinion but is your opinion right? All opinions are not equal. I notice sometimes when two people are arguing strongly that one of them will finally retort: "Well, I have a right to my opinion." Their statement seems to imply that simply asserting their right gives validity to their view.

My dictionary gives one definition of the word opinion as: "a belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge." We should all be willing to give up a strong impression we have in favor of positive knowledge. So my suggestion is that we submit all our opinions - no matter how strong, to the sure truth of God's Word.

Luke 21:33 says; "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away." God doesn't just offer "opinions"; his Word is the standard for truth with a capital T - absolute TRUTH.

Often, our opinions are formed from our background or life experiences. Sometimes they are even formed on misinformation or false assumptions. I saw this in my own life when I was newly saved. After reading the Bible, I was left with no choice but to fill an extra large garbage bag with junk opinions and throw them on the trash heap. I may have had a right to them but they were dead wrong.

To this day, I have to be willing to give up my "right" to my opinion in favor of God's. His opinion is the only one that equals truth every single time. So - let me ask you: what is God's opinion of your opinions? His are the only ones always right. Right?

Dr. Stanton Peele on overcoming an addiction with values and self-determination

    in Psychology

Amy Alkon's Advice Goddess Radio: "Nerd Your Way To A Better Life!" with the best brains in science.

*"Best Of" replay for Thanksgiving weekend.

Stanton Peele points out that most people recover from addictions on their own -- without AA or rehab, and what makes the difference is values, not biology.

On tonight’s show, he’ll debunk many of the myths in addiction treatment -- especially the notion that addiction is a “disease” people are powerless to overcome. That defeatest message is especially counterproductive to overcoming addiction, and it’s been supported with bad science and hearsay. Join us tonight to hear what solid science says about how addiction or bad habits can be overcome -- to the point where people are not just going cold-turkey off some substance or behavior till their next relapse, but where they develop meaningful ways of coping that no longer have them turning to their old crutch.

Peele’s book we’ll be discussing is Recover! Stop Thinking Like an Addict and Reclaim Your Life with The PERFECT Program.

Join me and all my fascinating guests every Sunday, 7-8 p.m. PT, 10-11 p.m. ET, at blogtalkradio.com/amyalkon or subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher.

Please order my new book, the science-based and funny "Good Manners For Nice People Who Sometimes Say F*ck," -- only about $11 at Amazon.

    Frat House Saturday #61

    in Sports

What’s more “relaxed” than a “relaxed” Frat House Saturday program during the “relaxed” Thanksgiving weekend? But, as you might expect, in keeping with the holiday, it will be stuffed with football

It seems the Philadelphia Eagles have dominated the NFL football discussion arena, and we’re no different here. First comes a conversation from our weekly all-NFL Frat House Sports’ Red Zone Blitz program where Frat House Mike & Brandon got into what happens with Chip Kelly.

Then our good friend Eric Purdy joins us LIVE to trash talk some college football as we wind down to the end of the seasons and now we’ll be looking at Bowl bids.

Ray Moffo of WNJC 1360-AM Yahoo Sports Radio joined us on our “flagship” Frat House Sports Show talking about, what else? The Philadelphia Eagles! THAT’s a MUST listen.

And finally, you do not want to miss our always classic, Frat House Sports’ NFL Picks-of-the-Week: Philadelphia Eagles – Detroit Lions / Carolina Panthers – Dallas Cowboys / Oakland Raiders – Tennessee Titans / New England Patriots – Denver Broncos.

It’s a doubly “relaxed” Frat House Saturday reviewing the week in sports and taking your calls as well to 347 – 826 – 9964!
