As an African American and Pan-African holiday celebrated by millions throughout the world African community, Kwanzaa brings a cultural message which speaks to the best of what it means to be African and human in the fullest sense. Given the profound significance Kwanzaa has for African Americans and indeed, the world African community, it is imperative that an authoritative source and site be made available to give an accurate and expansive account of its origins, concepts, values, symbols and practice. There is no disputing statistics. They are gathered from events, not "scenarios". They are made up of real people, real lives, real deaths. The steady decline of mental health facilities, mental health workers and mental health budgets has left far too many outside the help they need. One out of three people will experience some sort of mental health issue in their lives. Do you think that adequate services should be available for these episodes? Or do you agree with the "modern" methods of eliminating services and pretending the problem doesn't exist? Media, and by reflection the general public, tend to marginalize people who don't fit the "norm", whatever the hell that is. What if it is your loved one, your friend, yourself that needs the help required to regain your direction and focus?
Kelly Thomas. Martin Hall. Ashley Smith. Jeffrey Towe. Teresa Sheehan. Barbara Stewart. James Popkowski. Bartolo Ford. Thousands more like them. Who are these people? They are people who needed help but none was available. They were left to deal with police. We know how police deal with "non-compliance". Most of the time, it is "Obey or Die". But thankfully, not all.
If law enforcement is forced to become front-line mental health workers, why are they not being instructed how to deal with these circumstances? CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) is slowly becoming the standard. Budget restraints are the excuse being used to delay and deny it. What has to change to help save lives and prevent social chaos from protests?
Guest host @canadianglen is joined by @Firec0re to examine this issue. The personal experiences of @Firec0re motivate her to be involved in this societal void to help correct it. Join us, listen, chat, call in. The final Saturday episode of Rebelution Radio for 2014 looks to take the warmth of the holiday season and talk about a big problem, in a positive way.

Last week was epic and so much stress around the Holiday with Christmas and all the craziness that is we really stayed focused on the reason "Christ"
So much has happened in the last week and I an so stoked my awesome fiance and I are now in Kaui, Hawai'i and last night it was epic, we went in to downtown Santa Ana where Mindy had made sandwiches and apples with cookies and snaks for the homeless and she we placed all the food in bags and also included a scripture.
We had a lot to do the night before we left for our vacation in Hawai'i and it was almot 9pm by the time we made it to Ross ave in downtown Santa Ana where thousands of homeless people congregate and live near the civic center. It was windy and really cold out and we handed out the food and we were totally filled with joy as we spread the love of Christ around in a dark and cold place and we saw an awesome opportunity to do that more frequently witht the blessings God has given us we share as the LORD has commanded us too.
Then this morning my son called me frantic with a broken wrist, this because He remembered what the LORD had done healing his broken ankle from before earlier this year. The accident had just happened and he was writhing in pain stating he broke his wrist and he was freaked out because His trip of his lifetime "so he said" to Oahu was upcoming on the 31st :)
He was stoked and now freaked because he broke his wrist skating and the first call was to the LORD in me and we prayed and I am going to share the miracle with you and share some Aloha love in the LORD as well join me you will be glad you did, mahalo.
After Christmas break, and lots of food and drink, Felix and Annie are back to talk lots of NFL. Week 17 is here, and there are tons of good match-ups with the playoffs on the line. The Pats are sitting in great shape though with the number 1 seed in the AFC, so we'll talk about how they got to this point after such a horrible start, the Bills game on Sunday, and potential playoff opponents. We'll focus mostly on football, but may get into some Bruins and the mess they are in along with when the Red Sox might decide to get some pitching. And as always, there will be tangents, so call in with your thoughts!
