Deardra Shuler hosts her show Topically Yours featuring guests Tony Toni Tone, best known for their songs Anniversary and It Never Rains in Southern California. R&B group Tony! Toni! Toné! is comprised of Dwayne Wiggins on lead vocals and guitar, his brother Raphael Saadiq (born Charles Ray Wiggins) on lead vocals and bass, and their cousin Timothy Christian Riley on drums and keyboards. Other members were Elijah Baker, Carl Wheeler, Randall Wiggins, and Amar Khalil, who is the current lead singer of the group, and Antron Haile. Both groups will appear at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, May 30th at 8pm.
Host Deardra Shuler invites comedian Paul Rodriquez to her show, Topically Yours. Paul will be appearing at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts in the Bronx, NY on Saturday, November 30 at 8 pm. One of the first Latin Kings of Comedy, Paul was added to the Comedy Central list of the “100 Greatest Standups of All Time” in 2004. He got his first big break on the Norman Lear produced ABC comedy a.k.a. Pablo. He appeared in Crocodile Dundee, Blood Work, The World's Fastest Indian and the Deported, et a. His voiceover work includes Beverly Hills Chihuahua, King of the Hill and Dora the Explorer, etc. Rodriguez has been nominated for two American Latino Media Arts Awards, one Imagen Award and his latest major motion picture, the comedy Gravy, will have its’ theatrical release in December 2013.

Host Deardra Shuler interviews hip hop artist Kurtis Blow. Mr. Blow is the first commercially successful hip hop artist to be signed to a major record label. His hit single THE BREAKS from his 1980 debut album was the first certified gold record rap song. Throughout his career Mr. Blow has released over 15 albums and is currently an ordained minister. As a producer, Kurtis Blow was behind the hits of artists like The Fat Boys, Run DMC, Full Force, Russell Simmons and Wyclef Jean.
On Saturday, May 9th, Mr. Blow will be participating in a concert at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. The event celebrates the 38th Anniversary of the legendary Bronx nightclub Disco Fever and will be a show night of OLD SCHOOL HIP HOP as part of this Fever Re-Union Throw-Back Concert. Host Deardra Shuler interviews Michael Green, actor, director, producer and 10 year executive director of the Shades of Truth Theater, located at the Andrew Freedman Home, 1125 Grand Concourse, Bronx, New York, to discuss his new Play "Black Wall Street." The real life historical event that happened in Tulsa, Oklahoma when the white community declared war on the affluent Black community in 1921, eventually dropping a bomb on Greenwood, Archer and Pine, the Black economic area, destroying all commercialism on this oil rich community of Blacks, Native Americans and Jews. The first aeriel strike in America was directed against a Black Community.
As an actor, Michael Green has received critical praise for his ongoing performance as Dr. King in Jeff Stetson’s “The Meeting,” as Sam in “Blues for an Alabama Sky,” Reverend Ambrose in “A Lesson Before Dying,” “The Blacks,” Michael in “Blues Train” and Moses in “Camp Logan.” He Co-wrote Whistle in Mississippi: The Lynching of Emmett Till with Daniel Carlton and Peace Speaks: The words and Wisdom of King & Ghandi with Christine Melton.

Host Deardra Shuler interviews candidate Robert Jackson who is running for a Senate seat in the 31st district in Manhattan.
Robert Jackson served as a Community School Board President, City Council leader and Education Committee Chair. He has built a record of hard work and integrity and knows how to get things done. He has a record to prove it. Jackson is presently running for State Senate to help provide good schools for children to make certain every child has the same chance to succeed as he had. Jackson continues to fight for workers rights, human rights and to pass the Women's Equality Act, the NY DREAM Act and for an increase in minimum wage. As a marathon runner, Mr. Jackson recently ran a 12.8 mile run for peace.
As a Community School Board President, Robert Jackson filed a lawsuit against the state to fix an inequitable New York State school funding distribution formula that was cheating NYC schools and undermining our children’s future. He walked 150 miles to Albany to highlight the cause and won a court judgment that awarded $16 billion for NYC schools. In 2001, Robert Jackson was elected to the City Council. He was reelected 3 times. He was chosen to Chair the Education Committee and Co-Chair the Black, Latino and Asian Caucus. On the City Council, he effected more than 4,000 new openings for pre-k, fought to prevent thousands of teacher layoffs and helped start the Drop Out Prevention Initiative. He worked to increase jobs by sponsoring legislation to protect small businesses, create a community manpower training program, fought to budget senior centers, libraries and keep fire stations open.
Born and raised in Manhattan, Robert and his family have lived in Washington Heights since 1975. He attended New York City public schools and graduated from State University of New York at New Paltz. He is married and a dedicated father of three daughters.

There are many giant sinkholes appearing across the nation, NJ, PA, Arizona and particularly in Florida. They are appearing in Egypt, Mexico, Venezula, Russia and Australia. China is seeing increasing numbers of sinkholes, some as large and deep as caverns. Topically Yours host, Deardra Shuler, invites Prof. Robert Brinkmann to discuss this increasing sinkhole occurrence. He is the Director of Sustainability Studies at Hofstra University and the Director of Sustainability Research at the National Center for Suburban Studies. Brinkmann is a Professor in the Department of Geology, Environment and Sustainability at Hofstra. In 1979, he entered the Geology Program at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh.
Mr. Brinkmann attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee earning an MS in Geology in 1986 and a Ph.D. in Geography in 1989. In 1990, Brinkmann became a Professor at the University of South Florida where he continued his research on sinkholes, environmental pollution and urban sustainability.
Now at Hofstra University, he has authored numerous articles, chapters, and books. He is Assoc. Editor for the Journal of Cave and Karst Studies. His new book, Florida Sinkholes: Science and Policy will be published this year and is available from the University of Press of Florida.
