Topically Yours host Deardra Shuler talks w/D’Angela Proctor,TV One’s Sr VP of Original Programming and Production, about TV One's 2015-16 season, specifically their 1 hr true crime show, 'For My Man" which premiered on Mon, Sept. 7 at 10 p.m. ET. The show sheds light on the outrageous and shocking stories of women who have been arrested for a crime they committed in the name of love.
Ms. Proctor provides strategic direction of all original programming and oversees all development and current production for the network. Proctor joined TV One from Strange Fruit Media, where she was a co-owner and co-president. In the 15-year history of the company, Proctor developed, created and/or produced music videos, live music and comedy recordings, documentaries, feature films and television series.
Proctor has worked in the television genre serving as Executive Producer and Creative Consultant to BET from 2008 to 2010. During her stint there, she developed multiple film and television concepts, executive produced "The Family Crews", "Vindicated" and "Sunday Best," which earned the 43rd Annual NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Reality Series in 2011. Most recently, Proctor created the upcoming OWN docu-reality series, “Crazy. Sexy. Life.” Proctor executive produced the "Family Reunion" television series and the "Daddy's Girl" Laila Ali documentary for the network. Prior to that, Proctor produced television series "Exalted" and "One Night Only" and feature films "The Seat Filler" and "Book of Love," among others.
Previously, Proctor practiced law at Reed, Smith, Shaw & McClay in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Spelman College and a Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University.
Deardra Shuler hosts her show Topically Yours featuring guests Tony Toni Tone, best known for their songs Anniversary and It Never Rains in Southern California. On the 2nd-half of the show is Mint Condition known for their songs What Kind of Man Would I Be and Breakin My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes). Band members are Ricky Kinchen, Stokley Williams, and Larry Waddell.
R&B group Tony! Toni! Toné! is comprised of Dwayne Wiggins on lead vocals and guitar, his brother Raphael Saadiq (born Charles Ray Wiggins) on lead vocals and bass, and their cousin Timothy Christian Riley on drums and keyboards. Other members were Elijah Baker, Carl Wheeler, Randall Wiggins, and Amar Khalil, who is the current lead singer of the group, and Antron Haile. Both groups will appear at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, May 30th at 8pm.
Host Deardra Shuler invites comedian Paul Rodriquez to her show, Topically Yours. Paul will be appearing at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts in the Bronx, NY on Saturday, November 30 at 8 pm. One of the first Latin Kings of Comedy, Paul was added to the Comedy Central list of the “100 Greatest Standups of All Time” in 2004. He got his first big break on the Norman Lear produced ABC comedy a.k.a. Pablo. He appeared in Crocodile Dundee, Blood Work, The World's Fastest Indian and the Deported, et a. His voiceover work includes Beverly Hills Chihuahua, King of the Hill and Dora the Explorer, etc. Rodriguez has been nominated for two American Latino Media Arts Awards, one Imagen Award and his latest major motion picture, the comedy Gravy, will have its’ theatrical release in December 2013.

Host Deardra Shuler talks with bassist Carlos Henriquez who w/special guest Bobby Allende and Marc Quinones open Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynthon Marsalis (JALC) 2015-16 season entitled Carlos Henriquez Back In the Bronx premiering on Saturday, 9/12 at 8:00 p.m. at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts in the Bronx.
Henriquez debuts his new compositions and arrangements by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis premiering selections from The Bronx Pyramid CD to be released 9/18. The Bronx-born, Nuyorican bassist is one of the truly bilingual musicians equally virtuosic with the language of jazz and the Afro-Latin tradition. At age 14, he performed at People’s Park with Latin jazz greats like Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, and Celia Cruz. A music director for countless performances, Henriquez presents music that shows the breadth of his technical and stylistic dexterity, wherein his compositions and most notable arrangements will be front and center.

SS Nirvana, a musical, runs every Tuesday and Wednesday featuring songs of Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Nat King Cole, and Sarah Vaughn.
Charles Bartlett (Louis Armstrong) and Lil Phillips (Dinah Washington), talk about taking on the looks and vocals of the artists they emulate. Leader of The Charles Bartlett Jazz Ensemble, Charles is a seasoned trumpeter, who has performed at events hosted by notables such as Oprah Winfrey, Spike Lee and Essence Communications.He has performed with such jazz giants as,Stanley Turrentine and Dizzy Gillespie.
Lil Phillips has performed from NY to Istanbul, at Birdland and for JVC Jazz Festival. Known for her jazz style, Lil paid Tribute to Dinah Washington in 2008. Lil is a song stylist in her own right. Her bell-toned voice is a.perfect complement to her rendition of jazz and pop standards.

Host Deardra Shuler interviews hip hop artist Kurtis Blow. Mr. Blow is the first commercially successful hip hop artist to be signed to a major record label. His hit single THE BREAKS from his 1980 debut album was the first certified gold record rap song. Throughout his career Mr. Blow has released over 15 albums and is currently an ordained minister. As a producer, Kurtis Blow was behind the hits of artists like The Fat Boys, Run DMC, Full Force, Russell Simmons and Wyclef Jean.
On Saturday, May 9th, Mr. Blow will be participating in a concert at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. The event celebrates the 38th Anniversary of the legendary Bronx nightclub Disco Fever and will be a show night of OLD SCHOOL HIP HOP as part of this Fever Re-Union Throw-Back Concert.
