No matter what kind of fight is on the schedule, you can count on promotional companies and other PR entities to come up with gimmicks and weird stuff to get blood pumping. This weekend, "The Alien" (a 50-year-old guy who somehow is still relevant in boxing) meets "The Krusher" (a guy who displaces brain cells with a smile). Because Bernard Hopkins and Sergey Kovalev, two quality light heavyweights on HBO, aren't enough. And this week on TQBR Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and Queensberry Rules' Patrick Connor probe the ins, outs and what-have-yous of Hopkins-Kovalev. But there's other stuff to talk about, too. Like last weekend's Andrzej Fonfara vs Doudou Ngumbu Showtime card (that also had the absurd Javier Fortuna vs Abner Cotto and respectable Tomoki Kameda vs Alejandro Hernandez), and a few other odd offerings like Felix Sturm vs Robert Stieglitz, Tomasz Adamek vs Artur Szpilka, and the HBO undercard of Sadam Ali vs Luis Carlos Abregu. Thanks for tuning in!
Decisions that make no sense, suspicious-looking knockouts, early stoppage... BOXING IS BACK! There's some hyperbole in there, to be sure, but truth as well. Danny Garcia likely didn't deserve to take a clear decision win over Mauricio Herrera, Deontay Wilder oddly stopped Malik Scott to tab his 95,721st KO in a row, and Juan Manuel Lopez rallied to (prematurely?) sink Daniel Ponce de Leon in a short brawl. That last fight made up for all the lunacy, but it's tough to walk away from last weekend not feeling like a victim of domestic assault. This week on Queensberry Rules Radio, Bad Left Hook's James Foley and Patrick Connor of Queensberry-Rules will go over it all, top to bottom. Additionally, since technical issues prevented a show last week, they'll also be recapping Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's win over Alfredo Angulo and accompanying PPV undercard. Thanks for tuning in!
Discussion of the world of boxing and MMA straight up with no twists. Mauricio Herrera is a scheduled guest and he will talk about his big championship fight with Danny Garcia. Many observers felt that Herrera did more than enough to take Danny's title away from him. Zute's Fight Talk will get Mauricio's thoughts of the boxing match first hand. The rest of the show will focus on the great boxing and MMA action of the past week. Should Tomasz Adamek Retire? Was Deontay Wilder's KO legit? Is Juan Ma back? Where does the great Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler fight rank among the great battles in the UFC? What is next for both fighters? Frank Zhong and I will discus this, as well as preview the rematch between Dan Henderson and Shogun Rua. Joins us from 4 to 6pm eastern time for this action filled combat sports podcast.
Discussion of combat sports straight up with no twists. Zute will return back to the air to give his POV on the world of boxing and MMA. Another week, another set of fights to discuss, pick apart, have technical difficulties about and so forth on Queensberry Rules Radio. Us boxing fans sure are getting spoiled. But it's probably for the best if we whine, kick sand and make childish jokes. Luckily, that's exactly what James Foley of Bad Left Hook and Patrick Connor of Queensberry Rules plan to do once more on this episode. For starters, Mikey Garcia drew forth plenty of favorable comparisons with his destruction of Rocky Martinez, and don't forget Nonito Donaire sniffing the faint odor of defeat before dipping Vic Darchinyan in a pool of hurt juice. Demetrius Andrade also got a win over Vanes Martirosyan (not really worth the joke, pun or fancy language), and Andre Ward vs. Edwin Rodriguez may be worth a few minutes on the show. Thanks for tuning in!

This week we will be dedicating our entire show to last week’s tragic suicide of Christian Adamek, a fifteen year old student at Sparkman High in Harvest Alabama. We will be talking about Sparkman High School principal Michael Campbell’s actions after the now infamous streaking incident and before Adameks death as well as activism efforts to get him removed from his job. We will also be talking about misandry in education and how it affects boys. We invite those who knew Christian to call in and share their thoughts and memories of him. Undoubtedly this will be a difficult episode to listen to and participate in. However, it is important that the issue of suicide and misandry facing young males today be tackled and dealt with.
