The VOC Nation Radio Network traces its roots back to 2009 in suburban Philadelphia. Bruce Wirt took over the afternoon shift on the Voice America Health and Wellness Network and proclaimed himself, “your new ‘Voice of Choice’ in afternoon radio.” The V-O-C in VOC Nation was born. Over the next 3 years, Wirt took his act to Philadelphia radio, eventually settling in at independently owned WNJC 1360AM. The VOC Nation Radio Network spun away from WNJC in October 2012 and took to the “cloud”, using their solid fan base to instantly become one of the most listened to mediums on the Internet. In 2014, VOC Nation merged with Brady Hicks' IN THE ROOM Internet Radio Network, giving the combined medium over 50,000 monthly listeners. VOC Nation Radio streams live programming 7 days a week, and has forged partnerships with BlogTalkRadio, Stitcher Internet Radio, Podomatic, iTunes, and GoDaddy to bring daily live entertainment and downloadable podcasts to listeners worldwide. VOC Nation has over 100,000 twitter followers and has consistently ranked in the top 1% of downloadable podcasts as ranked by Podomatic, and in the top 5% of live streaming programming as ranked by Stitcher Internet Radio.
The Adrien Broner show continued on Thursday during the final press conference for Saturday’s SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® tripleheader at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati.
“The Problem” debuted “Bronish,” his own style of trash talking translated by fellow Cincinnati native and undefeated prospect Robert Easter, Jr. Then he reverted back to English and called out Lucas Matthysse. Just a few minutes later, he put his arms around the throat of his opponent on Saturday, Emanuel Taylor, while facing off for media in attendance.
In other words, typical Adrien Broner.
Broner (28-1, 22 KOs) and Taylor (18-2, 12 KOs) will meet in Saturday’s 12-round super lightweight main event, live on SHOWTIME®
Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin has opted out of facing his mandatory challenger Matt Korobov and has vacated his WBO middleweight title to try and pursue better opportunities in the middleweight division. Quillin thanked the WBO president and stated that it had to happen in order for fights that he and boxing fans wanted to happen.
“I’d like to thank WBO president Paco Valcarcel and his organization for their support throughout the years,” said Quillin. Winning the WBO world championship was a highlight in my career and somethign I’ll never forget. This is a difficult but in order to make fights the fans and I want against my fellow middleweights at the top of the division I needed to relinquish the title. This is an exciting new chapter in my life and I’m looking forward to cementing my spot as the best middleweight in the division.” We will with out a shadow of a doubt be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people. Those Guys discuss Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire rumors (and More) in this installment of, "The Rumor Mill!"
Have you showered yet? There's a good chance that, following that Pay-Per-View card last weekend, you might have a thin film of filth all over you. Floyd Mayweather is probably still the best fighter on the planet, but his ego was deflated some after a prolonged tussle with Marcos Maidana in their rematch. That was interesting to some, but not much more on the paid card was, unfortunately. This week on TQBR Radio, Patrick Connor of Queensberry Rules welcomes Alex McClintock, deputy editor for ABC Radio National and Queensberry Rules. Not much is on tap for the next week or so, but Orlando Salido, George Groves and a few others may pop up in conversation. Thanks for tuning in!
