Carter G. Woodson and the History of Black History Month

    in Culture

Carter Godwin Woodson (Dec. 19, 1875 – April 3, 1950) was an African-American historian, author, journalist and the founder of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. Woodson was one of the first scholars to study African-American history. A founder of The Journal of Negro History in 1915, Woodson has been cited as the father of black history. In Feb. 1926 he announced the celebration of "Negro History Week", considered the precursor of Black History Month.

Carter G. Woodson was born in Buckingham County, Virginia, the son of former slaves, James and Eliza Riddle Woodson.[5] His father helped Union soldiers during the Civil War and moved his family to West Virginia when he heard that Huntington was building a high school for blacks.

Coming from a large, poor family, Carter could not regularly attend school. Through self-instruction, he mastered the fundamentals of common school subjects by age 17. Wanting more education, Carter went to Fayette County to earn a living as a miner in the coal fields. He was able to devote only a few months each year to his schooling.

In 1895, at the age of 20, Woodson entered Douglass High School, where he received his diploma in less than two years. From 1897 to 1900, Woodson taught at Winona in Fayette County. In 1900 he was selected as the principal of Douglass High School. He earned his Bachelor of Literature degree from Berea College in Kentucky in 1903 by taking classes part-time between 1901 and 1903.

Life, Free Will & The Forces Of Faith (Part 2)

    in Education

Yusuf Ali (74: 31): And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a reminer to mankind.

Footnote from Tahfeemul Quran (Maududdi) *25 That is, none knows but Allah what different kinds and how many of the creatures He has created in the universe, what powers He has granted them, and what services He is taking from them. If the man clinging to the tiny globe of the earth seeing the tiny world around himself with his limited sight, is involved in the misunderstanding that the universe of God contains nothing but what he can perceive by his senses or by his instruments, this would only be his own shortsightedness, other wise this universe is so vast and limitless that it is not in the power of man to obtain full knowledge about any of the things here, not to speak of comprehending mentally the concept of all its vastnesses.

Why are blacks jumping off democrat plantation and into arms Trump?

    in Politics Conservative

A black Atlanta woman supporting Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump explained in a video that she can’t believe she ever supported the Democratic party, and threatened to divorce her husband if he didn’t vote “Trump gives me real hope and change, not fake hope and change,” the woman, a self-described Democrat, starts off saying in a rant posted to YouTube..

“Trump gives me real hope and change, not fake hope and change,” the woman, a self-described Democrat, starts off saying in a rant posted to YouTube.

“I never thought I’d be saying these words about the country,” she continued. “Democrats don’t speak about the country but I’ve woken up, I’ve seen the truth and the truth is Trump, I believe in this guy to make our country better because our country is going to hell!”

Hardaway and Richardson basically said that they support him because they want America to be "great" again, and that they support his plan to stop immigration by building giant wall at the border because they feel immigration is a major problem. They have continued to tout the virtues of The Donald as a presidential candidate whenever they get a chance.
