Keeping Work Zones Moving with Traffic Incident Management

    in Social Networking

Work zones pose challenges for drivers.  When drivers come to a work zone they need to understand the messages that they are receiving from signs, roadway devices, and other visual cues that create the need for them to change their driving behavior.  In today’s distracted environment, physical changes to the roadway such as reduced lane width, abrupt lane shifts and short interstate ramps can complicate driving.

Work zones pose challenges for emergency responders.  Often work zones create confined spaces for emergency responders to do their own work in.  In some cases, crews have to respond in the opposite direction of travel, they have to gain access to work areas, and they have to be sure to pre-stage equipment.  Coordinating with construction crews is a secret to success and the Iowa Department of Transportation has tapped into this secret.

In this episode of TIM Network Podcasts, John Wilson with the Iowa Department of Transportation will talk about their Traffic Critical Projects Program.

AWARD WINNING COUNTRY ARTIST - HICKS

    in Entertainment

Born in the southern part of Sweden (Helsingborg) Miqael aka Hicks grew up with a dream of making a living on his music. Playing in local bands he wrote music, toured and learned the chops as an artist and songwriter.
He soon moved to Stockholm to pursuit his dream of being a songwriter. His first cut with an other artist was the Swedish band Barbados that cut one of his country songs. The album went Gold and the band got a Grammy for Best Album. Pretty good start as a songwriter. Since then he has picked up more Gold and Platinum albums.

Hicks (Miqael Persson) is also an accomplished songwriter with most of his live material being written by himself and other co-writers. Whilst in Nashville he was able to co-write with top songwriters Anthony Smith, Dallas Rogers, Dennis Morgan and Sharon Vaughn.

He met with his USA publisher and learned that a song he wrote ‘Cuts Like A Diamond’ on his last USA visit was picked up by the Little River Band. Not only did they record it, but used the title of their new album to be released in August when they start a nationwide tour of the USA to promote it.

Other artists such as Jimi Jamison (Survivor) Giant (Dann Huff) Bobby Kimball (Toto) W.E.T (Featuring Jeff Scott Soto) Grammy nominated Toby Hitchcock and many more have recorded his songs...

Learn more about Hicks and his music when he joins Take 2 Radio Music for a chat on Wednesday, Feb. 4th at 3pm eastern time!

The Texas Cherokees: Tsalagi Nvdagi ("Land Of The Sun") w/ Chief Pappy Hicks

    in Religion

    Prerecorded...

According to Chief D.L. "Pappy" Hicks (facebook)

The Texas Cherokees (website) were driven out by force In battles fought on the 15th and 16th of July 1839.

No one left of his own accord. Many DID NOT flee Texas, but hid out in the woods until the army left. Many returned to their fields and started to live as "white" citizens for survival purposes.

Many lost their Cherokee heritage; some of them hung on to them and have never wavered about being Cherokee. We wavered only when it came to living within the bounds of Texas.

Remember, a red man couldn't vote or hold office until 1924. Even after that period, it was best to be "Black Dutch," or something that was dark, than it was to be and American Indian. People shouldn't depend entirely upon historians and their books to give them facts about the red man.

It is also impossible to "discover" historical events with a couple of books. Especially since I have read so many written by people who only rely upon other "historian's" document "facts." Not all court decisions are given with justice; just legal.

Those decisions by Texas and US Courts have not made the treaties with Spain, Mexico and Republic of Texas invalid.
