Tonight at 8pm ET on Ernest Radio Network, it's Political Gravity.
Your host Jane Hoffman goes back to one of our favorite subjects on Ernest Radio Network, that of monk & charity worker Thomas Merton. He lived an extraordinary yet simplistic life, dedicating it to God's service. Tonight, Jane focuses her attention on his time at the Abbey of Gethsemani, in Kentucky. He arrived there in 1941, and stayed until his death in 1968. You'll hear more on this amazing human being tonight.
All this plus NPR news, music, & much more.
Thomas Merton said "One mortal sin is more powerful than an atom bomb." What he meant is that each individual chooses sin like hate, greed, lust and it manifest itself - it is a driving force for war and other human conflict. Jane will read excerpts tonight and Jon will respond. Other current events. too.
Imagine a book club built around your prayer life — with no reading required! Lori Strawn and her friend Alice Shelton discuss spiritual themes and questions from literature and poetry, then top it off with a prayer from the Prayables collection. Join us in our journey to find God between the pages of our favorite books. This week, Lori and Alice will discuss a quote from Thoughts on Solitude by Thomas Merton.

EVANGEL PACIFIC RADIO PRESENTS...This Special Broadcast.
Pastor Will Griffith is joined by R&B Legend and contemporary peacemaker Timmy Thomas, along with his management team, Steve Tucker and Frank Levy. This is an EPR Exclusive interview on the eve of the launch of Thomas' WE CAN LIVE TOGETHER World Peace Campaign.
In 1972, Timmy Thomas was watching the evening news hosted by Walter Cronkite. Mr. Cronkite was reporting on the Vietnam war, and the thousands of American and Viet Cong soldiers that had died in battle. Timmy thought "Why Can't We Live Together". This thought became a song that was embraced by millions.
The song was initially banned in South Africa during Apartheid, yet it became their national anthem at Nelson Mandela's inauguration, where Timmy performed live in front of 200,000 people.
Timmy has had other hits world wide, as well as having his songs placed in movies such as Boys Don't Cry, C.R.A.Z.Y., Dick, Radio, and Bachelor Party. Over 100 artists including Sade, Steve Winwood, Santana, and Joan Osborne have covered "Why Can't We Live Together".
Timmy has always lived his life for peace and love, from marching peacefully with Dr. Martin Luther King, to traveling to Haiti as an airline ambassador setting up safe houses for children that have been human trafficking victims.
Innocent children are being killed by war, in the streets, and in our schools. Peace is needed now more than ever! So, he is reaching out to renowned artists in the epic remake "Why Can't We Live Together",
