    What in the world is Entropy?  It is something that each of us faces throughout our entire lifetime.  Does it have anything to do with me, or with my behavior, or with my future?  "Oh Yes" to all the above.  Entropy is the natural downward flow of all aspects of our lives.  This covers our habits, our relationships, and to some extent, our influence over our future.  


    When we were in High School, who was it that said, "There's no point in studying this stuff; we'll never use it!"  It wasn't me; not that I knew better, but I had a hint that there was some practical application for me somewhere in that "Law of Thermodynamics."  And there is.  


    In today's message, we'll look at the Second Law of Thermodynamics--Entropy; what it is and how it is impacting our lives today.  So, "Watch Out For Entropy."

    Assumptions: The universe is not isolated from The Observable Universe. The Observable Universe is the view of the universe created from the perceptions of matter, time and space produced by the observers in the universe.

    0) There is continuous processes converting energy between machines
    a) For every action this is a reaction
    b) A cause effects all surroundings: Effect may be negligible to the observer
    c) The machine is new every moment with energy

    1) The universe tends to perfect balance. Energy is conserved; no energy is wasted.

    2) There is continuous processes converting “perceptions of time”.
    a) Mass and Time: Laws may be agreed upon for all observers in similar “perceptions of time” relative to one another
    b) Mass and Space: The amount of energy which appears to do no work by a closed system during energy conversions always increases in time.
    c) Space and Time: The speed of transfer of massless information in a vacuum is the same for all observers in The Observable Universe

    The Fibonacci Series & the Cosmological Constant: Intelligent Design or Creation

    The Fibonacci sequence (0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89 etc...) is named after Fibonacci. His 1202 book Liber Abaci introduced the sequence to Western European mathematics.  Fibonacci numbers are intimately connected with the golden ratio.  Applications include computer algorithms such as the Fibonacci search technique and the Fibonacci heap data structure, and graphs called Fibonacci cubes used for interconnecting parallel and distributed systems. They also appear in biological settings, such as branching in trees, phyllotaxis (the arrangement of leaves on a stem), the fruit sprouts of a pineapple, the flowering of an artichoke, an uncurling fern and the arrangement of a pine cone.  The golden ratio phi (φ) is 1.6180339887... an irrational number, it has an infinite number of decimal places and it never repeats itself!


    Cosmological Constant (lambda: Λ) is the value of the energy density of the vacuum of space.  The cosmological constant is the simplest possible form of dark energy since it is constant in both space and time, and this leads to the current standard model of cosmology known as the Lambda-CDM model, which provides a good fit to many cosmological observations as of 2014.  Skeptics like to say that fine tuning cannot be proven by science, since we have only one universe to study. However, the discovery and quantification of dark energy has puzzled a number of scientists, who realize that it’s extremely small value requires that the initial conditions of the universe must have been extremely fine-tuned in order that even matter would exist in our universe.


    The Fibonacci sequence and the cosmological constant are evidence that there was intelligent design in the creation of the universe, and it did not come about as a result of random events governed by the laws of thermodynamics, in particular, entropy.

    What is nutrient timing?


    Nutrient timing is a planned alteration of macronutrient intake in order to promote health, workout performance, and get/stay lean.


    Nutrient timing strategies are based on how the body handles different types of food at different times. One of the most important nutrient timing principles is that it’s best to eat most non-fruit and veggie carbohydrates during and after exercise.


    Many factors influence energy balance, with the laws of thermodynamics being the most important determinants of weight gain and weight loss. Yes, this means how much we eat is priority #1 when changing body composition.


    But the key here is “body composition.” If we’re losing equal amounts of fat and muscle when losing weight or gaining equal amounts of fat and muscle when gaining weight, we’re not taking advantage of nutrient timing.


    Nutrient timing has several important goals:



    Nutrient partitioning (where the nutrients go when you ingest them)
    Improved health
    Improved body composition
    Improved athletic performance
    Enhanced workout recovery


    Why is nutrient timing so important?


    When you exercise regularly, the body is primed for fat gain or fat loss just as it’s primed for muscle gain or muscle loss during specific times of the day.  The wrong foods at the wrong times sabotage your efforts in the gym. The right foods at the right times enhance those efforts.


    Once we account for energy balance, timing nutrient intake can up-regulate metabolism, shift hormonal profile, and alter body composition.


    Manipulating nutrient intake can also help someone take advantage of certain anabolic hormones, namely insulin.
