Talk about responding! The Crimson Tide tore the Texas A&M Aggies apart on Saturday, and the catharsis is still present in spades from that stunning 59-0 victory. We'll break down what we saw on the field, and prepare everyone for a trip up to Knoxville to battle the Volunteers. Your BAMSradio crew of Cary Clark, Drew DeArmond and Thomas Watts will be joined by Jimmy Stein at 9 after an hour devoted to our callers. It's going to be a football-centric affair on BAMS tonight. Live: STANDING OVATION For FANS and Volunteers of the 5th Chesapeake Bay Fest

This is one of the first chances i had to give a shout out to all with a clear head. We are really overjoyed by the love and support of everyone. We really had to make changes this year and most of them not by choice. We actually had to start over from scratch but we were dedicated to make the best of things regardless what we had to work with. Buckroe Beach was our home and it is a special place but we had to pick and choose our battles and stay positive and just make it happen. We had to send a message that nothing can stop the power of Reggae Music. It is a music that unites people of all backgrounds. I cant tell you what a great feeling it was to see so many diverse people in one place. I met some of the kindest people in my life all weekend. I want to thank all the vendors because they really are the back bone of the fest, the sponsors that really lend support financially to help pay the bills, the volunteers that unselfishly devoted their time . The sound men who relentlessly tried to make things perfect as possible. The musicians who gave every ounce of their soul to the people. Lastly, the people who attended. Thank you so much again for being there. Without your love ,support and flexibility we would been no-where . Thank you again every one, we pulled it off. Watch for a bigger thing next year.

#105 VolunteerSpot - Karen Bantuveris - Scheduling School Volunteers

    in Education

The Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) Program is the largest school based father engagement program in the nation with over 4000 schools participating.

Karen Bantuveris, a management consultant working-mom, became a Girl Scout leader and PTA board member once her daughter entered school. Shocked at all the ‘little things’ that made volunteering a hassle, and fueled by frustration with reply-all emails, clipboards, online groups, and late night reminder messages...she decided to do something about it.

VolunteerSpot launched in Spring, 2009 with the mission of enabling ANYONE to quickly mobilize and coordinate volunteers in their community, congregation and social network. VolunteerSpot's simple sign up application makes it easy for people to join together and say YES to volunteering. No waiting for approvals and passwords, no software to install, just easy, free scheduling and sign up tools for everyday heroes making a difference.

Each week, WatchDOGS Radio host Keith Schumacher and co-host Chris Danenhauer discuss how this program is impacting families and schools across our nation and in four foreign countries.

Please join our audience and call in with your questions and comments.

  • 2015 SEC Football Preview

    in Football

Former players Matt Chatham, Brady Quinn & Derek Rackley explore the 2015 prospects for the SEC to produce another national champion after a couple year hiatus from the crown.  The Big Ten is gaining.  The PAC is gaining.  The Big 12 has a couple national champion contenders in TCU & Baylor.  FSU is still loaded with talent.  But is this all just a passing thing and the SEC will return to dominance in 2015?

The talent still present in the conference was undeniable with so many top players in the 2015 NFL Draft again coming out of the conference.  But that said, quarterback questions abound for the majority of the SEC teams heading into Week 1 of this season, so we discuss why most of the top QBs in college football don't seem to be coming out of the talent-laiden SEC.

Who's the favorite to win it all...Auburn?  Alabama?  Georgia?  Or somebody else?  Why does Mizzou get so little preseason respect?  And much more on another engaging episode of the FBF Podcast!

Shaping Special Hearts: Managing Behavior by Building Community

    in Religion

Host Katie Wetherbee and guest Sheri Halagan dive into the topic of managing behavior by building community. When we think of managing kids' behavior, often times we picture a sticker chart showing how kids followed directions, or a treasure box where children can go to get a treat for good behavior. As effective as these tools can be, though, you want volunteers and pastors to think more broadly about managing behavior.

Sheri Halagan has been an elementary teacher for 30 years and is currently teaching third grade at Gurney Elementary in Chagrin Falls.  She is currently working in her district as a Responsive Classroom trainer and works as a Consulting Teacher for the Center for Responsive Schools, training teachers in the summer.  Responsive Classroom is a set of social/academic strategies that center on creating positive and engaging learning communities within the classroom.  A focus on child development, proactive management, engaging learning activities and building positive classroom community through a number of classroom strategies help all children work to their potential. Sheri lives in Chagrin Falls with her husband Michael, where they enjoy outdoor activities, including lots of walking and gardening.

Katie is an educational consultant for Hope Educational Consulting who works with churches, families, and schools. She is also a writer; her articles have been featured on the MOPS and Power of Moms blogs as well as the Huffington Post and in KidzMatter Magazine. Katie is currently the special needs columnist for Children’s Ministry Magazine. In addition, she and author Jolene Philo are currently writing a book called Every Child Welcome, which will be published in April 2015. Katie and her husband, Tom, live in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, with their teenagers and a quirky mutt named Mitzie.
